She's his best friend's little sister. The definition of hands off. Cash has tried to ignore her for years. Those innocent eyes and her smile that screams kiss-me-if-you-dare... But when his hard partying ways get old and everyone at school is interested in Nicola, it's time to stake a claim. To make Nicola his girl, no matter the risks, and hold the hand of the one he really loves.
Sweet Girl is the novel length prequel to USA Today best-selling Garrison's Creed. Before Cash and Nicola can fall in love forever, they have to suffer through their first love.

Right. And now she was alone on the deck again, avoiding the alcohol-brave stares of freshmen boys. She glanced back into the house, wishing—
The familiar slide of Cash’s arm and the smell of soap paralyzed her thoughts.
“You look…” Breath hot, he whispered one word slower than the next, his lips a fraction away from the shell of her ear. “Gorgeous.”
A full body shiver started at her neck and ran south. “Hey, Cash.” She took a deep breath and let it out slowly, letting her eyes roam over him. “Bet you’ll break a few hearts tonight.”
He locked her in tighter. His breath was kissed by bourbon, and the scruff on his cheeks rasped against her skin. “Nah. Not in the mood.”
“The female population on campus is both relieved and saddened.”
“Oh yeah?” He pulled back an inch, then spun her into a loose hug, facing him. “Why’s that?”
“’Cause there’s still a chance, but it’s not tonight.”
A lazy smile curled. “Oh, you’re cute, Nic.”
God, he was gorgeous. Would his mouth taste like liquor? Her plan to get buzzed had not inoculated her against his dangerous good looks and charm. Her mind raced. “So I’ve been told.”
“What, by your date?” Cash tilted his head. He stepped back, dragging his arm off her neck, letting his hand smooth down her bare shoulder. His fingers drifted to her elbow. Another step, and he stuck his thumbs in his jeans pockets. His blue gaze smoldered. His button-down shirt, a little wrinkled, untucked and unbuttoned at the collar, was rolled up on his arms.
“I’m sure J’s said something like that tonight. Jaycee and Mira tell you their plans for you tonight?”
“Could not care even a little bit.”
She still felt where his fingers had traveled on her skin. Wanting that feeling again was driving her to distraction. Her eyes raked over his chest, sliding up to his face. He studied her. Intently. In an unnerving way, she could almost feel it. She swallowed and stole her eyes away because it was all in her head.
Cash stepped forward. “Let’s get out of here.”
His voice graveled. It had texture. She felt each word as it coated over her senses. Why did everything out of his mouth seem so much heavier? “I just got here, Cash.”
“Me too.”
“I didn’t come by myself.” Jacob was wandering around somewhere. Though she didn’t care.
“Neither did I.”
The air was thick. Tense. So much was unsaid. So much anticipation. She could taste it, feel it. Her heart raced; her pulse pounded. If she could touch him, hold onto his muscled arms, crawl onto his crazy-wide chest, if his arms could wrap around her and she could drown in his scent—
“What are you two so serious over?” Roman startled her.
One second. Two… What to say when she couldn’t think?
“Nic’s not feeling good,” Cash offered. A challenge danced in his eyes.
Roman’s protective gaze sliced to hers. “You’re not? What’s wrong?”
She swallowed at Cash’s lie, and now the ball of sexual-tension-meets-too-many-drinks was in her court. Was she misreading all of this? So much could go wrong. Two decades of friendship down the drain, not to mention Roman would kill Cash. “Car Bombs. I should’ve known better.”

Author Info
I've been a fan of all kinds of dark creatures since I was a kid (even before I discovered Stephen King at the age of 10). If it crawls in the night and tugs at your covers while you're sleeping, chances are I've written about it. It's probably no surprise that I'm a big fan of old buildings, urban exploring and things that go bump in the night. Oh, and Halloween, of course -- but that should go without saying.
Growing up, I wanted to be Indiana Jones. I ended up not pursuing a degree in Archaeology (although I toyed with the idea for a while) but I did become a huge lover of travel and history. Aside from traveling to all corners of the world, I've also lived in five countries in three continents -- including three years in Siberia and two in Vietnam. I'm currently living in Thailand.
I have a soft spot for animals (which is why you can be sure that in my stories, the dog will always make it) and right now have three wonderful -- but slightly crazy -- dogs in my life. And yes, they move with me from country to country. Too bad dogs can't accumulate frequent flyer miles!
In my other life, I also write nonfiction: articles, books, and even quizzes for the Discovery Channel website. I really can't help it -- I'm a nerd at heart and love research and discovering new things. Could be the Indiana Jones in me pushing me along.
When it comes to life, I'm pretty fearless. I figure life is too short to live it too safely -- so I take risks and I try to have fun, whether that means snowshoeing in the middle of Siberia or going ghost-hunting in an abandoned asylum. And yes, I've done both.

~Review: Catch Your Breath by Shannyn Schroeder~

As kids they steered clear of one another–but now a beautiful, well-connected reporter and a sexy, driven detective are all grown-up and on the job. . .
Moira O’Leary’s work as a reporter gives her access to some of Chicago’s swankiest soirées. She knows how to navigate the jet-set crowd, and her style and confidence help her blend right in. But when her childhood crush starts popping up at posh events, her poise begins to falter–until she realizes she has the upper hand in a high-stakes game of secrets and seduction. . .
Jimmy O’Malley has always tried to avoid his friend Liam’s little sister. Something about Moira spelled trouble. But he’s out of his element working undercover in Chicago’s high society, and Moira is his ticket to the inner circle. As sparks begin to fly–and their chemistry heats up–Moira gets dangerously close to his investigation. Will Jimmy be forced to push her away to keep her safe–or will they surrender to a desire that could leave them breathless?

Overall Rating:  4 Rockin’ ★★★★

Jimmy comes from a large family and still lives in the house he grew up in with his father and brothers.  Jimmy had finished serving in the military before returning home to join the local police force.  When Jimmy O’Malley is sent undercover by the mayor he has no idea what he is getting himself into.  An undercover assignment sounded better than the things he had been doing as a new detective on the force but hunting a thief without a lot of information from the victims is not easy.  To compound this situation the mayor wants him to play the part of a wealthy man that moves easily in his social group.

“Here’s the deal, O’Malley.  The mayor’s buddy was robbed, but he didn’t report it.  I’m still not clear as to why, but the mayor thinks his friend is not the only victim.” Jimmy shifted.  “He thinks?”

Moria is a reporter working social events when she thinks she sees Jimmy, the guy she has always wanted.  Jimmy has always looked at her like a little sister, but Moria wanted him to see her as a woman.  She decides to push the issue when she finds out that he is working undercover and needs her to not blow his cover.  The only way that she agrees is if he will let her have an exclusive story line when the case is solved.  This also gives Moria the chance to get closer to Jimmy and see if they can move pass the little sister syndrome that Jimmy insists on keeping up as a blockade between them.

He tried to push the picture away.  He had no right to ever think about her that way.  She was Liam’s little sister, for Christ’s sake.

Things really start to heat up when Jimmy begins to look at each other as more than his best friend’s sister.  He finds himself almost blowing his cover when he sees Moria flirting with other guys.   He doesn’t realize that she has a thing for Jimmy and only Jimmy.  As he searches for the thief his feelings for Moria become more of a distraction and hindrance. He has to focus but finds that he can’t.

Could Moria be the woman he’d been looking for?

Will Moria and Jimmy have their happily ever after?  Can Jimmy let Moria help him solve his case?

Cliffhanger: No

Would I recommend this book: Yes! If you enjoy a good mystery solved by a nosey reporter and a hot police detective you must read this book.  It takes a different look at a young girl growing up with a crush on her big brother’s best friend and how awareness begins to grow between two people that have known each other all their lives.

Would I read other books by this author: Yes! I would like to read the next story in this series to see where the author will take the O’Leary Family.

~Excerpt: Catch Your Breath~

Excerpt
Jimmy and Moira are at another charity event. He sees her flirting with other guys and it makes Jimmy a little nuts. He interrupts her walk with a guy named Mike.

Once Mike was out of earshot, she asked, “What the hell are you doing?”
He glanced over his shoulder at the number of people still milling around. He grabbed Moira’s elbow and guided her farther away.
She struggled in his grasp, which caused her dress to gap and then tighten in all the places that shouldn’t draw his attention but did.
“Let go of me. What are you doing?”
When they were safely ensconced in shadows, he released her. “I was going to ask you the same thing.”
“I’m doing my job. Same as you.” The moonlight peeking through the foliage made her white skin glow. Her chest rose and fell fast; he knew she was getting wound up.
Well, so was he. “Your job is to flirt with every single guy you come across?”
“What do you care who I flirt with? You barely like me.”
Why did she keep going there? “I told you I like you just fine.”
“Funny way of showing it. You ruined a nice walk I was having with Mike. I don’t need another big brother. I’ve got that covered.”
He wasn’t looking at her like a little sister right now. In fact, he was having a hard time remembering she was a little sister. “You’re making me nuts. What are you trying to do?”
She sighed heavily and leaned against the rock outcropping behind her. “My friend Kathy—”
“Hendricks?”
“Yeah. She pointed out that the events I attend have plenty of bachelors.”
Christ. She was taking dating advice from Hendricks? The woman briefly dated Kevin, which didn’t say much about her taste.
“Then something you said the other day stuck with me. Remember at the block party, you mentioned kissing every guy possible to find the one who would set off fireworks? Well, that got me to thinking. Maybe I was being too selective in trying to find the right guy. So I figured I’d give it a shot. It shouldn’t be a conflict of interest if I don’t write about the guys I date. And I might be able to find the one to make my toes curl—”
He lost the ability to think. Dropping his coat, he pushed against her, one hand bringing her hips toward him. He braced an arm against the rough rock to keep balance as he lowered himself to align his mouth with hers. His movement caused blessed silence from her except for a quick, sharp intake of breath.
God, she tasted just like he’d always imagined: like sweet sunshine and smiles. Pushing his tongue into her mouth to seek out hers elicited a moan from her, and it made him want to take more. His hand traveled up her back, pushing her more firmly against him and the softness of her chest pressed against him.
As her arms twined around his neck and her fingers rubbed his head, he could’ve sworn that he did indeed see fireworks. Like some damn kid.
He nipped her full lower lip and was about to dive in for more when the sound of laughter behind them caught his attention and he remembered where they were.
Shoving away as quickly as he’d moved in, he mumbled, “Fuck.”
“Not quite, but that was a hell of a start.”
He heard the smile in her voice, along with a hint of I told you so.
He took a full step back from her. “I’m sorry. That shouldn’t have happened.”
“Just what every girl likes to hear after being kissed senseless. Why not?”
“You mean besides the fact that you’re Liam’s little sister?”
“Definitely besides that. Liam doesn’t decide who I date, much less who I kiss or sleep with.”
He couldn’t think about her kissing or sleeping with anyone right now, even him. Especially him. “I’m supposed to be married, remember? Fuck. I don’t know how I let you do this to me.”
“So sorry to be an inconvenience.” Her voice didn’t hold an ounce of apology.
“I need to get back to the party.”
“So do I.” She took a few steps away from him until she stood in a pool of light. Her skin continued to glow and her hair was still in place, but her face was flush and her lips kiss swollen. “I’ve had some interesting conversations. You know, if you tell me what kind of information you’re looking for, I can probably find things out for you.”
Fury crept in quickly and he grabbed her elbow. “Stay out of my investigation.”
“I’m a reporter. I ask questions. It’s what I do for a living.”
“I’m not kidding, Moira. Stop playing Lois Lane. Leave it.”
Again with the snort. “If I’m Lois, it makes you who? Superman?”
“We don’t know what we’re dealing with. You’ll get your damn story. Stay away from it.”
“Whatever. I have people to meet.” She turned away to leave again.
“No more men tonight, Moira.”
“We’ll see,” she said without turning around. And he was certain she added a bit of sway to her hips just to make him crazier.

Love Sucks

The moment Vanessa Hilliard walked into the tattoo shop uttering those two words was the day my life began its downward spiral.

Or maybe it’s the day my life began.

My name is Rex Grayson.

And this is my story.

***

The day I met Rex Grayson, I got a hell of a lot more than I bargained for. He sparked something inside of me -- possibility. A word that never existed in my world before. He caused me to question who I was and made me want things I never dreamed were possible.

We’ve both got a mountain of shit in our past.

My name is Vanessa Hilliard. I have an affinity for the unusual and seriously twisted.

He thinks this is his story.

I subtly open my legs, hoping he might take the hint and move his hand where I really need it.  Instead, he continues to drive me crazy with his calloused finger circling just above my knee.

His warm breath fans my neck, and I bite back the noise that wants to escape when his tongue makes contact with that sensitive spot behind my ear.  “You taste so good,” he murmurs, “and I bet you’re already wet for me.”

“Beyond wet,” I whisper back, not wanting the taxi driver to hear and think that I’m a sex-crazed freak, even though I feel like one.

Rex inhales a jagged breath, his hand finally wandering higher up my thigh.  “I can’t wait until my tongue can find out just how much,” he says quietly.  And when I glance up at him, his eyes denote a hunger that lights a flame inside of me.  One that’s been buried for quite some time.

I press my lips together, staring out the window in an attempt to distract myself.  My skin tingles with anticipation as I try to rein in my breathing that is currently out of control.  But I don’t have to wait too long.  Within minutes, the taxi pulls up in front of his building.

Rex pays the driver and practically jerks me from the seat, latching onto my hand as we fly into the building like two sex-starved lunatics.  He hesitates the moment we enter the glass door, glancing up at the flight of stairs then back to me.  With a devious grin, he scoops me up under my knees and I let out a yelp of surprise.

“Ahh!  What on earth are you doing, Rex?” I laugh, my head dropping back.

He continues striding up the stairs with purpose.  “What does it look like I’m doing?”

“Why are you carrying me?  I can walk, you know.”

“Blondie, shut up and kiss me,” he demands.  “I need motivation for climbing.”
