Spotlight Author of the Week: Claudy Conn

•**• Spotlight Author •**•

Some may know Claudy Conn as Claudette Williams/Melanie Davis, two names she used when publishing her regency and historical romances, with Random House, Zebra and Doubleday.  Now as an Indie author, she has the freedom to step out of the formula and go with her characters wherever they take her.

We asked what does she do when she isn't writing and she tells us, she and her husband love hiking, swimming, traveling and playing with their variety of animals--wolf Cherokee and her now overgrown hybrid pup, Rocky the Man, included.   Her favorite things she says are, chocolate, fries and pizza.  She loves to hear from her fans, so visit her at: www.claudyconn.com

She can also be found quite a bit at her author page on FB./

It started with a stolen kiss …

Fiery Myriah Whitney is wild of nature, contrary, and independent. But when her father catches her kissing the handsome Sir Roland (how else is she to determine if he is the one who will make her feel thunder and lightning, hear bells and music?), he declares that her days of headstrong independence are over. She will, he commands, announce her engagement to Sir Roland—immediately.

But in an age where marriages are about alliances rather than affection, practicality not passion, Myriah wants more—she wants to fall in love. And she does not love Sir Roland. So she runs away to her grandfather with her faithful manservant, Tabson, at her side.

A wrong turn in the fog, however, leads to the discovery of an injured young man, and before she knows it Myriah is caught up in world of intrigue and secrets. And when she meets the young man’s older brother, the mysterious Lord Kit Wimborne, the sparks fly. Their first encounter—in his bed, both of them naked, no less!—is an explosion of wills, and it is what finally set Myriah on fire.

She has, it seems, finally found her thunder and lightning…
an excerpt:
She lay staring in utter disbelief
at the stranger she was still holding in her arms

Lantern in hand, Kit moved upstairs to his bedchamber. He was surprised the drapes in his room had been pulled tight but was too tired to contemplate the mystery. He set the lit lantern on a side table and shrugged out of his clothes. He then picked up the lantern and made his way to his bed, setting the lantern on the nightstand. However, there he stopped short.
Someone with long, flaming ringlets of hair was lying face down, covered only to her waist—in his bed!
His first thought made him grin. His puppy of a brother had no doubt brought her home with him, but why would the rascal send her off to his bedchamber?
Drape mystery solved, and another one to contemplate.
“Now what to do with you, sweet,” he murmured. Grinning, as he thought, One shouldn’t infringe on one’s brother’s property—but really, Billy, why the devil did you put her in my bed? This question repeated itself, and still grinning, his lordship decided the only thing to do in such a situation was to wake her—his way!
He nibbled at her delicate ears and placed a warm kiss on her throat. She groaned pleasurably. The sound stimulated him, and he leaned over her and took her mouth with

Lady Star by Claudy Conn

Never, in all her twenty years of life, had Star Berkley seen the likes of Sir Edward. He was so damned arrogant, so damned fashionable, and so damned insolent—and he was the most handsome man she had ever come across!

Sir Edward, for his part, could do without the pert country airs of a chit like Miss Berkley. She was impish, plain-spoken, and obviously not his sort, which was just as well, for it seemed she had stolen the heart of his closest friend.

Then Sir Edward stumbled onto a most sordid secret: the Berkleys’ estate teetered on ruination, and brother and sister were being brutally blackmailed by a vile den of thieves.

Sir Edward meant to save them, if Star would allow him, and he was a determined man, determined that she would allow him … everything.

Spellbound-Legend (Legend series Book 1) by Claudy Conn

One was from another world and the other from another time…

In a failed attempt to turn him into an ageless lover, the evil, not-quite-a-vampire Lamia DuLaine poisoned hunky Druid high priest Julian Talbot on his wedding day. The Seelie Fae transported Julian to their realm for treatment and captured DuLaine, but not before she brutally murdered his new wife, Maxine.

Now, nearly two centuries later, the Fae have revived Julian from his coma and returned him to his ancestral estate, where he finds his bride’s many-times-great- grandniece and namesake, Maxie Reigate—who could be his beloved dead wife’s twin. Also there is Breslyn, Royal Fae Prince of Dagda. Because he’d honored the Treaty prohibiting Fae interference in the human world, Breslyn hadn’t been able to prevent Maxine’s death. This time, however, he will do whatever it takes to protect Maxie, rules be damned. It’s not just guilt that motivates him—the sexy immortal has long admired humans, and he is especially taken with this human woman.

While she might look like her ancestor, this Maxine is a modern, spirited woman with emerging Druid powers of her own—and she will not be a stand-in for a long-dead love or a temporary playmate for an immortal prince. And yet, she can’t help but be attracted to these two very different and absolutely mesmerizing males.
Together, the three of them must work to combat treachery from the highest levels of the Seelie Fae Realm, for one of the Seelie queen’s closest confidantes is plotting to unleash Dark and monstrous Unseelie Fae on an unsuspecting human world. If that weren’t trouble enough, Lamia DuLaine has been released from her Otherworld prison, and her obsession with Julian and hatred for the Reigate family are as strong as ever. But now she has even more Dark Magic knowledge at her disposal.

Excerpt:
was something in his expression that made Maxie realize the Prince wanted to taunt Julian. Oh yes, she thought, these two had some sort of history.
“It won’t take money…it will take…”
Julian interrupted harshly, “Me. It will take me, Breslyn, make no mistake.”
Breslyn shrugged, “One can only hope this time, you will use some caution.”
“This time I will use everything it takes.” Julian snapped.
The Prince chose to ignore him and took Maxie’s glass of wine from her without lifting his silver eyes away from hers. He sipped from her glass and when he gave it back to her, he made sure she had it in place so that her lips would touch where his lips had been. It was bold, and it was infinitely sexy. Maxie didn’t ordinarily allow guys to get away with stuff like that, but she thought as she bit her bottom lip, these were not ordinary circumstances, and Breslyn was no ordinary guy!
Flirting was good—she excused herself. Flirting was fun. When did a girl ever get to flirt with a Fae Prince and have a hunk looking on? She downed her glass of wine.

SHEE WILLOW-LEGEND (Legend series Book 2) by Claudy Conn

“They called her ‘faeling’ and Willow ran.
She isn’t running anymore.

Then she accepts a job restoring classic paintings in Ireland and finds herself in the middle of a conflict between the Seelie Fae and the evil Dark Fae. In order to protect the Human world, she must embrace her Fae powers.

But that’s not the only challenge Willow faces. Roland Omren, a handsome gypsy, is vying for her affection. The hunky Fae Breslyn, Prince of Dagda, is trying to seduce her. And then there’s her mysterious boss, Shayne Bantry…

It is quite a ride…

EXCERPT
My name—Willow Lang. So much has happened that you need to know, so I will start at the beginning—but first, I’ll give you some stats. How I got to the ripe old age of twenty-three and still
remained sane is beyond me. Maybe I’m not sane. I have been told that my pale blonde, very thick, very long hair catches the eye. Eyes? Mine are violet. Come on, you say, but yes, they are violet, like the flower. That is an accident of birth—I take no credit for it. I stand about five foot three in my stocking feet, and I have a really good figure. Now, please don’t think I am being immodest. I am not, because in spite of all that, I know, have always known, I am a freak! Let me explain...

Trapped-Legend (Legend series Book 3) by Claudy Conn

Magical powers, a castle, and a charming prince sound like the ingredients for a fairy-tale life, but for BJ Mulroy, reality turns out to be a whole lot more complicated.

BJ is a Fios, which means she can see both the Seelie and the Unseelie Fae even when they invoke the Feth Fiada that makes them invisible to most humans. She hadn’t asked for the magical power, and often she wishes she couldn’t see the evil drones who are appearing more and more often in our human world. But see them she does, and she can’t ignore the danger they pose—nor her responsibility as a Fios to combat the Dark Fae.

The castle is Castlesand, the ancestral home of her new husband, Brian, a warm and caring Druid high priest with only a few months to live. Though they care for each other, the marriage is a strategic alliance rather than a love match. Brian needs BJ’s help in making sure Castlesand doesn’t fall into the clutches of a dangerous relative who wants the estate no matter what he has to do and who he has to hurt—including Brian and BJ—to get it.

The charming prince is Danté, a Fae royal who is too attractive for any woman’s sanity. But while she’s as hot-blooded as the next woman. BJ does not want to be the plaything of an immortal prince, no matter how yummy he is. Besides, there’s the matter of the seventeenth-century hunk in the painting.

Free Falling-Legend (Legend series Book 4) by Claudy Conn

They call her Z and she is a handful ready to explode. She has entered the war
against Gais and the Dark Fae and means to take him on all by herself. She is driven.
Aaibhe, Queen of the Seelie has other plans, and she sends in Prince Danté to execute and preserve her wishes.
Z and the prince meet and hackles go up on both sides. Oooh…no, they don’t like each other one bit.
They bang heads at every turn, and those turns become a whirlwind of emotions and feisty Z, well, her attitude is ‘bring it.’

He was a prince, and he was at my front door? Why?

Excerpt:
Beneath his lightweight black leather jacket, he wore a black Polo shirt tucked into his Lauren blue jeans; his black leather belt held a gold buckle engraved with etchings. He wore gold-tipped Gucci boots. This Fae knew how to outfit himself.
And then I looked into his eyes.
I was struck by the depth of those golden eyes. I was taken by the sparkle of green flecks in the deep gold of their color, but as I looked I noticed a certain aloofness therein. I knew, without being told, this Fae was not happy to be here. Fine—I wasn’t happy about his being here, either. We were in agreement.
His chin went up. “I am Danté, Prince of Lugh.”
“Good for you, fella—now, what do you want?” I didn’t like his arrogant and cold demeanor, and I didn’t think I liked him, not one bit.
“It is not what I want that brings me here, Daoine,” he snapped. “It is my queen’s wish.”
Well, that got my interest. “Now why would Queen Aaibhe send you to me?”
“Manners dictate that you should invite me in,” he answered grandly.
I felt like laughing at him. Not nice, I know. “Maybe I don’t feel like being mannerly,” I countered. For some reason he hadn’t brought out the best in me. “Okay, the quicker I listen to what you have to say, the quicker I get rid of you.”
“I wish that could be the case. I wish it more than you do, but apparently we are stuck with one another for a time,” he said on a heavy sigh. “You, Daoine child, are my assignment,” he snapped. “And as much as I wish it otherwise, there you are.”
“That is your problem, not mine.” I wagged a finger at him. What the hell was this? Since when was I anyone’s assignment?
“Well, I am making it your problem.” His smile was wicked, as though he were getting pleasure at my shock and discomfort. It was beyond tolerable.
“OH! Get out of my home … NOW!”
“Can’t—Queen Aaibhe has ordered me to take you on as an assignment. I am honor-bound to do so.” He inclined his regal head. “I am saying that willing or not … you have a houseguest—me.”
