Lily has been a Prophet for her people since the death of her husband.  She has always put duty before everything including love. 

“You want to forget about war and duty? Come home with me.”

Caleb has always loved Lily even though she chose duty over him when she married another.  Now that Lily has been infected with Virus-27, her mating mark has been removed and he can pursue a relationship with her.

She blinked and inserted the diamonds as if in a dream.  Heat rose into her face.  Was Caleb trying to court her? “Thank you, Caleb.”

All the Prophets have been having terrible dreams demanding that they kill Janie Kayrs.  Are they really dreams directing their paths or are the nightmares?

“Janet Isabella Kayrs must die. To save humanity, to save everyone, the prophesied one must die.”

Between Caleb and Lily will they be able to solve the nightmares or will they be forced to follow their duty.  Lily has never had a vision that incited violence or one that told her to kill someone.
