~Review: Forever Consumed (Consumed #3) by Skyla Madi~

This is it.

My revenge.

I can taste it on my tongue, it's sweet and it's addictive.

I've worked way too hard to settle for second best and I will come out on top.

------
Seth Marc is back and training harder than ever before to redeem his loss to Don Russell. Tensions are high but stakes are higher as MMAC founder, Matt Somers, forces Seth and Don to train under the same roof.

Though Matt Somers believes it's only good fun to provoke the two for publicity, he doesn't realize just how serious the situation is.

With Olivia by his side, Seth Marc pushes himself to his limits and struggles to keep opponent, Don Russell, out of his head as they fight it out one last time.

Overall Rating:  4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★

As I read the last page of this book, I found myself wrapped in a blissful cocoon of happiness!  Following Seth and Olivia's relationship of ups and downs, I found myself yearning for the perfect happily ever after ending for them.  Could this be the book that completed their journey?  All my questions were answered, finally...yes it is!  This was it.  The ending I had craved desperately.

Forever Consumed is the third book in Skyla Madi's Consumed series.  The story begins with Seth and Olivia getting married and a new journey begins for our couple.  Seth seeks his revenge against Don for the injustice that had occurred from the previous fight.  Olivia finds her place in the new world they are building together.  Jackson and Selena are on again off again and we are given a glimpse into Jackson's past.  There are many different elements that occur and Seth and Olivia's relationship are tested time and time again.  Seth fights the demons from his past and finds comfort in Olivia.  Will their love be enough to see them through?

Skyla Madi delivers again!  She writes a story that evokes strong emotions from the reader.  I recommend you get the book and see for yourself the amazing job the author did.~Flo

***Part 1 of a filthy, seductive new serial***

Overall Rating:  4.5 Rockin’ ★★★

Vaughn’s job is seducing women.  He uses his skills to get information on cheating women for their husbands.  Keely is good at her job she is a paralegal and wants to become a lawyer. She has a kind heart and really cares about her clients. How could the two have anything in common?  Vaughn has been hired to seduce Keely and he never turns down a job. Keely finds herself aching for Vaughn’s attention and cannot understand what is happening to her.
Huh.  Well, I get all kinds in here, not just the spouses in need of a pre-nup get-out clause.  Desperate fathers needing to lure their princess away from gold-digging scum; daughters out to get rid of their wicked step-mother; women wanting to give their girlfriends the fuck they deserve.  I will seduce anyone – for a price.
Vaughn has been hired to seduce Keely by an unknown client that wants to destroy her.  After meeting Keely for the first time he feels that he can get the job done in no time at all.  She is attracted to him and that leaves her open to his seduction.  Vaughn arranges a meeting with Keely at her law firm and proceeds with his plan. Even when Keely tells him that he will need to make another appointment since her boss is not present, Vaughn does not ease up his pursuit.
I go to the door, eager to put safe distance between us.  “Why can’t you take the meeting?”  Vaughn’s voice stops me.  “I’m not a lawyer.”  “You don’t want to be alone with me.”  He watches me, not taking his eyes off me for a second. I squirm under his gaze. “I’m not qualified.  I don’t even know your case…”
While trying to seduce Keely, Vaughn overhears a conversation that has red flags going off in his head, “Mr. Ashcroft”. What is going on?  He cannot forget the past and what this name brings back.  How are Keely and Ashcroft connected? Keely states that she needs to take care of some files that must be sent out immediately and even with my best moves she blows me off and leaves telling me that I will have to reschedule with her boss.
I can’t believe it.  She turned me down.  Nobody turns me down.  Especially not some blushing librarian who’s been panting like a bitch in heat since the moment she laid eyes on me.
Keely cannot forget the things that Vaughn said to her about size and orgasms.  She is a twenty-three year old in need of a real orgasm…and she feels that Vaughn could give her one.  Keely shoves her thoughts of Vaughn aside and heads to the hospital to check on Mr. Ashcroft.  He is in really bad shape and tries to tell her something that he says is really important but fading out.  A man comes into the room and them and demands to know who she is and why she is there. Keely identifies herself and then leaves the room only to run into his nurse June.
“Did he talk to you at all?” “A little.  He was kind of confused,” I explain.  “He said he needed to tell me something but then…We were interrupted.  Do you know what it was about?  He shouldn’t worry about the legal stuff.  We can deal with his business managers from now on.”
When Keely leaves the hospital Vaughn follows her to see where she is going.  He follows her into music and through the art exhibits.  Vaughn conveniences Keely to let him prove that I can make her come so hard that she will be begging me for more.  And he more than proves that size does matter.  Will Vaughn succeed in seducing Keely?  Will Keely find out what is going on before it is to late to protect herself from his seduction?  What part does Mr. Ashcroft and his family play in all that is happening to her?

~Review: Played by the Billionaire by Alexia Adams~

Internet security billionaire, Liam Manning, made a death bed promise to his beloved brother, Marcus, to complete his mystery-romance manuscript. Problem is that Liam’s experience with women is limited to the cold-hearted supermodels he usually dates—nothing like the warm, caring woman depicted in the novel his brother began. So falling back on his hacking skills, he infiltrates an online dating site to find a suitable woman to teach him about romance-regular guy style.

Lorelei Torres was raised by her hard-working mother because her loser father is behind bars. All she wants is an honest man to love and with whom she can raise a large, happy family. After the last contender for her heart turns out to be a lying snake, she decides it’s time she started over. San Francisco is as far from Buffalo as she can get, unfortunately it’s not beyond the reach of her mother’s constant reminders about Lorelei’s ticking biological clock. When her dear parent signs her up with an online dating agency, Lorelei reluctantly agrees to meet her cyber-match. Maybe it’s time an impartial computer chose a man for her.

Can Liam finish the novel before Lorelei discovers his deceptions and, more critically, before she breaches the firewall around his heart?

Overall Rating:  4 Rockin’ ★★★

It doesn’t matter if you run a multi-billion dollar corporation when your brother on his death bed asks you to finish his book you do it.  Regardless of what is required of you to accomplish his last request, so you don’t know anything about romance, you just do the research. It can’t be that hard, after all you are the CEO and Chairman of IWC Security and the king of internet security.
“Marcus was writing a mystery novel with romantic elements.  The hero is an everyday guy who gets caught up in some intrigue.  Along the way he meets a girl and falls in love.  The mystery bit I can write with no problem.  Marcus outlined his plot on that one.  The romance element is another thing…”
Liam has several problems the first being that he is known as a player and his character requires that he write about an everyday kind of guy.  The second problem is that he is well known and there are pictures of him everywhere.  Third he has to find someone that has no idea who he is so that he can have interaction that is not basis.  So Liam decides to join an internet dating service and find someone new to the area for his little experiment. He finds Lorelei and decides he needs to observe her before starting his plan.
Liam took a long swig of his coffee, hoping to drown the niggling sensation of pending doom in his stomach. “There she is.”  David swiveled and nearly fell off his chair.  “Her photo didn’t lie.  I’ll say it again, my friend.  You are so screwed.”
Liam wears a full beard and few of every seen him without it so he decides to shave, good disguise. Even his best friends can hardly believe how different he looks without the beard.    He also needs to find something to drive other than his Aston Martin maybe a Ford or Toyota Corolla.  What about his personal chief and his penthouse apartment?
“I can see now why you grew the beard.  You’re broken.”  Excuse me?”  Liam ran a hand over his now-bare chin and cheeks.  The smooth skin felt weird under his fingers.  “You’ve got a dent in your chin and a hole in your left cheek as well, definite defects.  When this is over you’d better grow the facial hair back as soon as possible.”
Margery is working at the bakery that she runs for the pack.  She is swamped when Rex walks in and grabs an apron to help with the crowd.  When she demands to Lorelei is an event planner that just transferred from the Chicago area to San Francisco.  She agrees to try internet dating at her mother’s insistence and goes on a blind date.  Her date does not arrive but is approached by the man of her dreams, totally drool worthy.  They start a conversation and soon he asks her to have dinner with him.  Lorelei doesn’t know but this is all part of Liam’s plan to do research on how to romance a girl and she is his guinea pig.
He leaned back in the seat and let a self-satisfied grin cross his face.  Tonight had gone exceptionally well. And he had a date for tomorrow.  If that went anywhere near as smoothly as tonight he’d have this romance sewn up and the book finished within the month.
Liam has no idea how to be a normal guy but he had asks Lorelei to let him be her tour guide!  Lorelei talks Liam into riding a bus, the metro and eating street food.
“Of course, Liam.  I wouldn’t want you to be uncomfortable.”  “Lady, I haven’t been comfortable since you said the word ‘bus’ first thing this morning,” he grumbled.
The more Liam finds out about Lorelei the more he wants to find out.  Liam past haunts his future and Lorelei’s past makes her not want to trust men.  He continues to ask her out on dates for his research until the night she kisses him and has an anaphylactic reaction to his M & M peanut habit.

“Can’t breathe,” she managed to gasp out.  Panic surged within her.  She pulled out of his arms and stumbled to the kitchen…”EpiPen, bag.”
Liam agrees to go to a charity function with Lorelei and she finds out who he really is.  Will Lorelei give Liam another chance?  Will Liam realize that his relationship with Lorelei is more than a way to research romance for his brother’s book?

Riding High (Sons of Chance #14) by Vicki Lewis Thompson

Saddle up!

There ain't a rider that can't be thrown. And large-animal veterinarian Regan O'Connelli was thrown hard when he discovered his fiancée with his best friend. Now he's starting his life over at the Last Chance Ranch, run by the tightly knit Chance clan. But damned if his libido hasn't perked up over the spirited redhead who looks a lot like trouble.

Lily King is the queen of anti-structure. Turns out, that makes running a horse sanctuary a challenge. Regan's help is exactly what Lily needs, not to mention the seriously sexy sparks that are flying between them. Now she just has to convince this fallen cowboy to dust himself off and get back in the saddle and into her bed!

Overall Rating:  3 Rockin’ ★★★

Regan O’Connelli was a DVM and had agreed to help out at the Peaceful Kingdom Horse Sanctuary.  He had no idea of what he was getting into but had promised his partner Nick Chance that he would take over his volunteer position at the sanctuary. When he drove up to the gate he got his first idea of what he had gotten himself into.
Nick Chance, his brother-in-law and business partner, had mentioned that Lily King was slightly…different. Judging from the psychedelic colors she’d painted the ranch house, the barn and the outbuildings, differentwas an understatement.  Even though he was wearing his Ray-Ban sunglasses, the neon green, pink, orange and turquoise hurt his eyes.
While Regan was trying to find out why a man was dropping off a potbellied pig at a horse sanctuary he heard a voice saying I’ll take it.  Nothing had prepared him for Lily King and the fact that he found himself on instant alert.
“Right.”  At her approach, his senses went on alert.  She smelled great, like a fresh meadow, and as she drew nearer, he noticed the freckles scattered across her nose, as well as her intensely blue eyes fringed with pale lashes.
Regan knows that Lily needs help when he sees the horses wandering around the yard with no set structure for their behavior.  She also had adopted chickens and another potbellied pig.  When Lily explains to him that she just can’t turn anyone away he begins to understand her problem.  Lily has a kind heart that wants to help everyone, and it seems that includes him.
“I could be wrong, Buck, old boy, but I think that guy might need to be rescued as much as the rest of you around here.”  The horse bobbed his head, and Lily smiled.  “Thanks for validating my hypothesis.”
Lily calls her friend Nick Chance to get the details about his new partner Regan.  When she finds out that he had just broken his engagement six months ago red flags go up warning her that she will not be another man’s rebound woman. Even with Nick’s assurances that he will be ok in time.
“How could he be?  Poor thing.  It’s only been six months.”  That meant he was off-limits to her, though.  She had no interest in some gorgeous guy’s rebound girl, even if she did want to soothe his wounded heart.
While feeding the horses the alpha male begins to show his dominance over the other horses.  Lily realizes that she is not equipped to take care of the animals at sanctuary alone.  She needs Regan to help her gets things under control so she asks him to stay the weekend at her house and teach her what she needs to know to help the animals.
“I have a better idea.”  It wasn’t a wise idea, but desperate times called for desperate measures.  “Don’t take this the wrong way, but would you be willing to spend the weekend with me?”
Regan agrees to stay and help Lily with training the animals and getting things organized at the sanctuary.  They are both attracted to each other and only Regan’s and Lily’s past stand in the way of them both getting what they want, each other.
“But, inconveniently for you, I flip your switches.”  She sighed.  “You do.”  “That makes two of us with that problem.  But considering where we’re both coming from, it could turn into a disaster.  I wasn’t willing to admit that before, but it’s possible one or both of us could get hurt.”
Will Regan and Lily save the sanctuary and find a way to each other?  Or will their past keep them from the love that is beginning to grow?

~Review: Branded (The Cavanaugh Brothers #1) by Laura Wright~

In the small town of River Black, Texas, sits the Triple C—a working cattle ranch that sustains the town. But it also holds painful memories and shocking secrets for the Cavanaugh brothers...

When the Cavanaugh brothers return home for their father’s funeral, they discover unexpected evidence of the old man’s surprising double life—a son named Blue, who wants the Triple C Ranch as much as they do. The eldest son, Deacon, a wealthy businessman who couldn’t wait to leave the ranch and move on with his life, is looking to use his powerful connections to stop Blue at any cost. He never expected the ranch’s forewoman, Mackenzie Byrd, to get in his way.

Mac knows Deacon means to destroy the ranch and therefore destroy her livelihood. But as the two battle for control, their attraction builds. Now Deacon is faced with the choice of a lifetime: Take down the Triple C to feed his need for revenge, or embrace the love of the one person who has broken down every barrier to his heart.

Overall Rating:  4 Rockin’ ★★★

Mackenzie has been in love with Deacon Cavanaugh since she was thirteen years old.  When Cass is murdered everything changes for everyone that lived on the ranch.  Mac lost her best friend and it had turn Deacon into hard heartless man.  After ten years he was a billionaire and needed nothing but to destroy the ranch that represented his families’ shame.  He had tried repeatedly to purchase the ranch from his father but the old man would not sell to him. Deacon had purchased adjoining land and was building his own ranch to put his father out of business.

When the will is read an unexpected disclosure leaves everyone in shock.  There were four Cavanaugh brothers not three that were to share in the ownership of the ranch.  Everett Cavanaugh had an affair and the fourth son was the result of that union.  Deacon is furious and does not believe the Blue is his brother and demands DNA testing for verification.  Mac cannot believe that her best friend that is like a brother to her is in fact a Cavanaugh.  She cannot convince Deacon to let the past die and look ahead to the future, a future that everyone in the small ranch town will lose if he destroys the ranch.

Even when Deacon realizes that Mac is the one for him, he still will not stop his plan.  He offers to buy out all of his brothers so that he can accomplish what he set out to do.  Mac knows that she will have to fight him every way that she can to stop what he plans.   So she starts to plan and make a way to dissuade Blue, Cole, and James not to sell to their brother.  It’s only a matter of time before the sizzling attraction between Deacon and Mac can no longer be denied and the two come together regardless of the consequences.

Will Deacon finally let Mac in and explain why he hates the ranch and his father so much that he is determine to do whatever is necessary to destroy it? Can Mac save Deacon from his past and help him to find a future with her?

Annie decides to get back out there on the internet dating scene.  She meets Nate and decides to give him a chance. When he disappears on her she is once again left feeling empty and alone.  Do you see a pattern yet in the dating game? Annie is looking for love and acceptance but is she really looking for it in the right places?  What can you say when you put your personal ad in a place called Casual Encounters?
