A Dangerous Road To Destiny (Fab Five #7) by Anna Kristell

The Fab Five are back, and another O’Grady employee needs their assistance.

Joanna Barnes and Marcos Avila mix like oil and water. When the restaurant he works for in Dallas sends him to Houston to open a new Chloe’s Place in a hotel chain, Marcos meets Miss Barnes, who gets under his skin from the start. Joanna works for the hotel, and when she tries to tell him how to do his job, it infuriates him. When both their employers have to order them to get along on the job it becomes evident that they might like each other a little more than they are letting on. Both Joanna and Marcos scoff at the idea.

Joanna has been hurt in love and would like to find a man she can count on. She begins to see that she does indeed have feelings for Marcos, but she starts dating Greg Grayson, whom she met on an online dating site instead, thinking he is the safer choice. Marcos could easily break her heart.

Greg Grayson, however, is not who he appears to be. When Joanna and Greg meet and begin dating, Marcos is concerned. Seeking the help of his respected employer, Ryan O’Grady, the two men have Mr. Grayson investigated, and what they find doesn’t bode well for Miss Barnes.

Realizing his feelings for Joanna go much deeper than he cares to admit, Marcos sets out to change her mind about him and about Greg. But that day, Joanna finds herself in a dangerous position; will Marcos get to her in time? Will the couple finally realize their destiny, or will Greg make sure it never happens?

Overall Rating:  3 Rockin’ ★★★

Joanna and Marcos are two people that rub each other the wrong way when they first meet.  He is opening a new restaurant in the hotel that she works at as the PR person.  He can’t take her bossy ways and she feels he is an arrogant male.  Everyone around them keep telling them both that they are really attracted to each other.

Both men knew Joanna and Marcos didn’t get along.  Both men also thought the two were attracted to each other, but too stubborn to admit it.

Joanna had been hurt deeply years before in a relationship and was afraid to risk her heart.  Marcos knows that Joanna is not his usual type and is leery of pursuing the feelings he senses growing between himself and Joanna.

As he took a sip of his bubbly, Ryan O’Grady caught a passing glance between Marcos and Joanna, just a fleeting look, but one he knew well.  Marcos was in love, he just hadn’t figured it out yet.

Joanna’s best friend suggests that she join an on-line dating service.  It was for singles over thirty and Bessie swears it is great.  She volunteers to help Joanna get signed up on-line so that she can meet someone.

“I’m looking, and I’m having fun along the way.  There’s this great new dating site I found online for thirty-something singles in the Houston area.  You should set up a profile and check it out.  I’ve had a few dates with guys I met on there.  I don’t think I’ll give Marcos my number through because I’m still convinced there’s more to the two of you than you’re admitting.”

After Joanna meets Greg online she agrees to a date.  At the same time her relationship with Marcos begins to change.  They start spending time together and find out they have a lot in common.  Marcos drops a few hints that he finds her attractive and enjoys her company.

Why hadn’t he noticed before?  If the truth be known, he had.  He had let his disdain for her shadow the fact that she was one of the most beautiful women he’d ever met.

Marcos wants to date Joanna.  When Joanna breaks up with Greg, he turns violent and threatening.  She turns to Marcos for protection.

“Baby, what’s wrong?  Did he contact you again?”  “No, I’m just so glad you’re here.  I am frightened, Marcos, really frightened.  I’ve never been this scared in my life.”

Will Marcos be able to keep the woman he loves safe?  Can Joanna take the risk and follow her heart?
