Review of The Will (Magdalene #1) by Kristen Ashley

Early in her life, Josephine Malone learned the hard way that there was only one person she could love and trust: her grandmother, Lydia Malone. Out of necessity, unconsciously and very successfully, Josephine donned a disguise to keep all others at bay. She led a globetrotting lifestyle on the fringes of the fashion and music elite, but she kept herself distant.

While Josephine was trotting the globe, retired boxer Jake Spear was living in the same small town as Lydia. There was nothing disguised about Jake. Including the fact he made a habit of making very bad decisions about who to give his love.

But for Josephine and Jake, there was one person who adored them. One person who knew how to lead them to happiness. And one person who was intent on doing it.

Even if she had to do it as her final wish on this earth.

Overall Rating:  4.25 Rockin’ ★★★★

The Will is the first book in the Magdalene series by author Kristen Ashley.  It is a beautifully written love story that proves that it is never too late to find true love. This is the poignant story of a woman’s journey to find love, laughter and her happily ever after.

As Josephine Malone listens to her grandmother’s will she cannot believe what she is hearing.  Her beloved grandmother has given her to a man, a complete stranger and it is the twenty-first century!  What was she thinking?  The man is a total alpha male with strong control issues.  He runs a strip club and owns a gym.  Not only that but he has been married three times and has three children!  Not that she would judge anyone, nether the less, she lives a life of refinement and elegance.  How could they ever fit together? She has never been married and has never had a child of her own.  The two lifestyles will never go together!

From the moment he saw her picture and listen to her grandmother talk about Josie, he knew that she belonged to him.  He would never be worthy of such a woman, but she touched a part of him and filled it with something he had never had.  Jake had made so many mistakes, but he was a good father and provided for his children giving them everything that he was.  He knows that he has made decisions in the past that were not the best and he will need to make sure before he stakes his claim.  Now that Josie has returned to Magdalene, he plans on showing her what life with him could be.

Lavender House is a place of peace and happiness for Josephine and she decides to take a chance and put her globe-trotting shoes away. This is her home and maybe the dreams she had when she was younger can come true, because no one knew her better than her grandmother.

Would I recommend this book: Yes! Take one hot, hunky fighter, mix him up with a very beautiful, sexy proper woman that takes no prisoners and you have the start of a great read! Add in a lot of laughter, fashion and sometimes, did that really happen with three precocious children and you will begin to get the idea that this is a really special book.

Would I recommend this author: Yes! Ms. Ashely writes stories that tug at the heart with characters that seem like old friends by the end of her books. They are filled with hope, love and yes really hot sex.
