Review of Holding Huck's Heart (Marco's MMA Boys, #3) by S.M. Donaldson

Huckleberry “Huck” Webb cares only about the two F’s in life – fighting and being the man-whore he is you can figure out the other. As an up and coming celebrity in the MMA world, he can have all the women he wants, no strings attached. And he does.

Chelsea Harmon is the good girl in a mess. She lived her life under the long arm of the law, her detective father. She couldn’t wait to escape. The big world out there was hers for the taking. Only if something is too good to be true, it usually is. The good girl finds herself in a very bad situation with a very powerful and wealthy man.
Everything changes for them both when Chelsea gets the call to come home. Her mom has stage four breast cancer and the future is uncertain. Doing what a good girl should, she drops everything and finds the perfect excuse to run from her present situation. What happens when two complete opposites find themselves together once more? Can Huck handle Chelsea’s past? Can Chelsea face it all and come out on the other side? After walking away once before, can Huck forgive the girl who always held his heart?

Overall Rating: 4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆

Freedom is not always what you dream it will be!  In S. M. Donaldson’s next book in her series, Marco’s MMA Boys, she unveils Huck and Chelsea’s story. Holding Huck’s Heart is moving and at times heartbreaking as we delve into the lives of not only MMA fighters but also those individuals that belong to the men in this tough sport. This author is not afraid to expose taboo subjects and the way they are often looked at through our society’s eyes, off-limits and distasteful. Strippers that work to pay the bills, people with different sexual orientation and abusive relationships are just a few of the areas that are explored in this insightful novel. Ms. Donaldson holds true to her HEA ending while opening up the endless possibilities of life.

She was his tutor in high school and he fell for her hard, but she left and didn’t look back!  But she has returned to help dad take care of her mom.  Why is she working at that strip joint?  Huck feels betrayed, yet at the same time he still feels something for her.  So many things are happening all at once!  Secrets are being uncovered that may tear his world a part or maybe make it stronger.  Can he take a chance?

Her lover/boss had made promises, promises that he had not kept.  When Chelsea's family needs her to return home and help take care of her sick mother, it’s a no brainer.  She packs up and says good bye but will her past let her leave it behind.  When she runs into Huck at the hospital where she is working, all the old feelings are still there for him.  Is there a chance for them to have a future?  Life has never been easy, so when the past comes back and demands she let it back in, what is she to do?
Something sinister is lurking, waiting to pounce!  Will they survive it?
