~Review: Ricochet (Renegades #3) by Skye Jordan~

After a tragic incident in Afghanistan leaves Master Sergeant Nathan Ryker the only man standing in his tight-knit team, he spirals into an alcohol-and-sex induced escape. A call from his lifelong buddy pulls Ryker from the shadows with a request for help with his stunt company’s latest blockbuster. If Ryker can survive the next three weeks of leave and get back to his remaining men, he might just be all right. But a sexy woman who can take his mind off his trauma is too hard to resist, and when he hooks up with Renegades’ sultry, snarky office manager, his sanity takes a backseat to the first glimpse of a future he isn’t sure he deserves.

Still reeling from a bitter romantic betrayal, Rachel Hart wants nothing more than an uncomplicated hookup. So when the mysterious Nathan seduces her with a little dirty talk and one delicious kiss, Rachel drowns all her good sense in a Mandarin and soda and gives herself over to a night of sexual bliss. But her memories tarnish in the morning light when Rachel discovers his real identity and his link to Renegades. Her job and her friends are the only thing holding her life together, and she won’t be ruined by one sultry night with this damaged and dangerously sexy man.

Overall Rating:  4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆

Rachel is the glue that holds the Renegades together.  She has become their go to person when anything for the company needs to get done.  Since Rachel had assumed the job, she had organized the office and the testosterone filled crew.  Now once again she was being called upon to pick up the new guy that would be helping plan a bridge demolition for the newest Bond Movie.  Just what a girl wants to do on Friday night go to LAX, fight traffic on the 405 to get there and get some guy she does know settled in at his hotel.  Of course when she had called him to get his help with the job on the phone his voice did sound really sexy.

Ryker has serious issues with the loss of his teammates in Afghanistan.  He is suffering survive PST but refuses to get the help he needs so his Co sends him state side for R&R.  While he is there he agrees to help his childhood friend, a member of the Renegade crew with a project.  Now he finds himself still at LAX waiting on his pick up that is two hours late.  Ryker finds his way to a bar and starts drowning his personal demons in alcohol.  Enters trouble, in a sweet feminine package and plops herself on the barstool next to him and offers to buy him a drink.  To start with Ryker doesn’t realize that she is his ride and the voice on the phone that had recruited him for the job.  He really wants to get to know her better, like up close and personal.

Rachel is not a spontaneous, jump in bed with a stranger kind of girl but decides that “Nathan” is just what she needs to relieve the stress.  After one kiss they are both so all over each other that they almost don’t make it to the hotel.  Nathan knows that he should confess to Rachel about who he is, but he doesn’t want to chance her walking away.  This is just a one night stand for both of them and he will never have a cause to see her again.  It’s not like an office manager; glorified secretary will be on the job site that he will be working.  A night of the most amazing and electrifying sex either have ever experienced cannot be denied and so when the sun rises they go their separate ways not willing to commit to anything else.  The problem that continues however to haunt Ryker is why does he feel so obsessed with Rachel?  And why does Rachel continue to think about Nathan?

Nothing goes the way Rachel or Nathan plans and they find themselves thrown together with an attraction that cannot be denied.  Will Rachel be able to help Ryker heal and find the help he needs? Or will he return to Afghanistan before he takes care of his problems?  Can they find a way to make their attraction work?  Will it become more than just a one night stand?

Would I recommend this book: Yes! This book sizzles and hisses when a hot, beautiful man meets a wild, spunky chick and explosions start go off all around them! This is a wonderful tribute to our wounded soldiers and the families that help heal them when they come home.

Would I read other books by this author: Yes! Ms. Jordan does an incredible job telling a story and making the characters so real that you feel like you know them.  This is one of my favorite authors and can’t wait to read her next book!
