Saving His Mate (Crescent Moon #4) by Savannah Stuart

From the moment vampire bounty-hunter Rex Serano meets sexy shifter Margery, he’s smitten. When the alpha of the Kincaid pack asks him to join with them, he’s stunned by the offer, but the real draw is the beautiful, caring female who seems to want nothing to do with him.

Margery is the driving maternal force for her pack and she has one rule: she doesn’t date vampires. Years ago she was nearly killed by rogue vamps and she has no interest in getting involved with one now. No matter how sexy a certain, persistent bounty hunter might be.

When one of Rex’s hunts gets messy, Margery gets caught in the crossfire and he’ll do whatever it takes to protect her. They might be different species but the mating call is undeniable and too strong to ignore. Now they must find a way to reach common ground and trust their instincts if they’re going to fight for a future together.
Overall Rating:   4 Rockin’ ★★★

Rex is a 250-year old vampire that hunts rogue vampires.  Rex is pursuing a rogue vamp that has fled into Kincaid pack territory, so he needs to get permission from the Alpha to be in there territory. Grant asks Rex to consider joining his pack and making his home with the pack. While talking to his friend Grant the Kincaid pack Alpha a beautiful woman walks in and everything changes.  Margery is a 200-year old wolf shifter and a member of the Kincaid pack.
Rex stared, his gaze tracking her as she moved farther into the room.  His heart rate kicked up a notch and he had to force it to remain steady, to appear as if he was unaffected.
With Grant’s help Rex gets to help Margery get her drunken friend home.  While on the way she tells him that as a young cub she had been attacked by four vampires and she would never be able to have a relationship with him.  The only problem is she is really attracted to him and Rex can smell her reaction to him.
She hated that she felt the oddest attraction to Rex.  It was making her wolf claw at her insides, wanting to strut around and preen for the male.
Rex decides that he will prove to Margery that he is not like the four vampires that attacked her.  He would show her that he was different.  But before he can put his plan into action he needs to finish the job he had started.  So he goes after the rogue vampire and the process of capturing him, the vampire falls out of a tree and impales him on some of the tree limbs.  This frees Rex to spend time going after Margery. He meets with Grant and tells him that he will think about joining the pack but it depends on Margery.
“I think she’s my mate.  I’ve never responded to a female like that before.  My fangs ached, my-“ He cut himself off; Grant didn’t need to know everything about his visceral response.
Margery is working at the bakery that she runs for the pack.  She is swamped when Rex walks in and grabs an apron to help with the crowd.  When she demands to know what he is doing, he says she needs help and he is there to give her that help.
“You can’t do that,” she sputtered, feeling more out of sorts than ever.  What the heck was happening? A vampire was coming in to help her at the bakery?
Rex apologizes for upsetting her the night before but Margery tells him that he didn’t upset her.  She finally asks him what he wants from her. When things are about to get interesting between her and Rex when one of her pack mates comes to help at the bakery. This wolf is attracted to Margery and that does not sit well with Rex. When the two males come to blows, Margery leaves and tells them to clean up their mess.  When she leaves she is kidnapped by rogue vampires and her only hope is Rex.
The bitch had shot her up with silver.  Calling on her only remaining strength, Margery let her wolf take over, knowing her animal side would protect her as best as she could.
When Rex realizes that Margery has been taken, he starts to search for her.  He receives a text from her kidnappers telling him if he doesn’t do what he is told that Margery will die.  He is not to contact anyone, just wait until he called with directions.
I’m going to give you an address and you’re going to plug it into your GPS system and follow the directions exactly,” a female said.
Will Rex find Margery in time?  Will he claim her as his mate?  Who kidnapped her and why?
