~Review: Crave The Night (Midnight Breed #12) by Lara Adrian~

Born and raised to be an emotionless killing machine, Nathan is one of the most lethal Breed vampires in existence. A key member of the Order—an elite group of warriors charged with protecting both mortals and vampires—Nathan executes each mission with flawless precision and a total lack of mercy. Now he must pursue a powerful, hidden enemy. But Nathan’s hard discipline and training are no match for the fierce pull he feels toward a young woman he has no right to desire—a woman of wealth and high social standing who has long been promised to another Breed male, and who may also prove to be the key to rooting out Nathan’s elusive quarry.

Jordana lives a life of glittering privilege as a member of a prominent Breed family in Boston. Surrounded by fine things and fawning admirers, Jordana wants for nothing—until she crosses paths with a dark, intense warrior from the Order and finds herself swept into an impulsive, sizzling kiss that neither of them will forget. As much as she tries to deny her deep feelings for Nathan, Jordana cannot resist the craving to be near him, to break through his forbidding walls and see the man he truly is. But getting close to Nathan will thrust Jordana into a treacherous new world, forcing her to risk all she has and all she knows about herself and her past. And loving this seductive man could be the most dangerous temptation of all.

Overall Rating:  4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆

Nathan had been trained from birth to hide his emotions, to feel nothing regardless of the situation that he finds himself in and to hold himself aloof from others.  It had been instilled into him that he was a killer, a weapon and not capable of sharing a relationship with another. Everything changes for Nathan when he stops by one day to check on his District Chief’s daughter and meets Jordana.  When she kisses him the walls that he has so carefully constructed around his heart to keep everyone out begin to crumble and a new need replaces them.

Jordana has been raised as a privileged princess in a Darkhaven by her father who is the leader of that Breed community. She has always been loved, protected and almost smothered by her caregivers.  Jordana’s father adopted her as a baby and she was all that he had to pamper and give everything he has too.  He is so protective of her that he has even selected her future mate and has arranged for the mating to take place before she turns twenty-five.  It doesn’t matter that they do not love one another only that it is a good match.  Jordana buries herself in her work at the museum and avoids thinking about what will happen in the future.  That avoidance comes to a halt when she meets Nathan a Gen One Breed that shakes her to the very core of her soul.

The Order has assigned Nathan a mission to find collect all information regarding the threat that is being waged against them by a shadowy organization called Opus Nostrum.  But the deeper the investigation goes the more information surfaces indicating that it is really the Atlanteans that are waging war against the humans and the Breed.  Nathan must locate Cassian Gray a possible Atlantean that operates out of the Boston area and could give them the much needed Intel that the Order needs to stop the attacks.  Never in all his years of training and service had anything or anyone distracted Nathan from his prime directive, serve and protect the Order, not until Jordana.  Now he is finding it difficult to stay focus and complete his mission because all he can think about is her.

Secrets are being kept and the answers are unexpected!  Will the answers bring Jordana and Nathan together or tear them apart?

Would I recommend this book: Yes! This is the next installment in the Midnight Breed Series and once again Ms. Adrian does not disappoint her readers.  The book takes a new twist in the war between the Breeds and the Atlanteans.  It also has a hunky Gen One Breed that finds and falls in love with his mate a beautiful, spunky breedmate that is more than she appears to be. A must read for anyone that loves a good paranormal romance!

Would I read other books by this author: Yes! I have read and enjoyed all of Ms. Adrian’s Breed Novels and many of her other books.  The Midnight Breed Series is an all-time favorite read for me and I defiantly will continue to read them as they become available!
