~Review: Resenting Me (Breakneck #2.5) by Crystal Spears~

One look at the beautiful Hawaiian flower dancing on stage at his buddy’s strip club and Pyro’s world changes. He’s lost, captivated, head over heels. He tries to stay away, resist her charms, but he just can’t find the strength to do it. Instead, he hires Hazel and Winter as entertainment for the Breakneck President’s thirtieth birthday party, unknowingly putting the girls’ lives in danger.

Hazel convinces Winter to take the Breakneck gig so that she can get closer to Pyro. Playing the temptress to the max, Hazel appears on stage wearing white angel wings, and little else, drawing Pyro in to where she wants him. Needless to say, they both get very little sleep that night.

One night together making love until the sun comes up and these two are in too deep. But this is the Breakneck world, and sunrise brings gunfire and bloodshed. Time brings Winter’s abduction and brutal rape. Hazel’s guilt burrows deep, and she pushes everyone away. She is resenting herself for convincing Winter to enter this Breakneck world. She is resenting Pyro for ensnaring her heart.

This is the story of Pyro and Lana. It is simply the story of how, sometimes, love just isn’t enough.

Overall Rating:  5 Rockin’ ★★★★

Resenting Me is a novella in Crystal Spears' Breakneck series.  This is Pyro and Lana's story.  Even though their love was short, it was full of intense passion and feelings.  The author once again brings us into her MC world full of life-threatening challenges.  Even though we know the outcome it has a powerful impact on the series.

From the moment Hazel set eyes on Pyro she wanted to know more about him!  His beautiful eyes and rocking hot body pulled at her mentally and physically.  He was the VP of the MC Breakneck and had visited the strip club she worked at repeatedly trying to convince her friend Star to perform at his club.  He wanted this as a surprise birthday gift for his friend and the President of the club. Hazel saw this as a chance to explore the attraction she felt for him and get to know more about the man that intrigued her so much.

While Pyro used the Prez’s birthday as a reason for Star and Hazel to perform at the club, he also wanted to spend more time with Hazel.  The connection between them is electric and at the same time explosive! They cannot deny the force that is pulling them together while the lifestyle that comes with an MC member is foreign to Hazel.  She really doesn’t want to be a part of the life that she had helped her best friend stay hidden from.

This book tells of the up and down struggle of two people that live in different worlds trying to find a way to make it work.  The violence that comes with Pyro may keep Hazel from making the commitment to him that they both need. This is a must read if you have not already read Seize Me and even if you have, it answers so many questions!

Heroine –Lana aka Hazel: 5 stars

Cliffhanger: No

Would I recommend this book: Yes! Ms. Spears writes a beautiful prequel to her Breakneck series in this novella about Pyro and Hazel.  It is a heart wrenching story of love that ends without a happily ever after, while explaining so much about the relationship between them that didn’t come out in the first novel, Seize Me.

Would I recommend this author: Yes! This author understands and writes about a world that is hidden to most!  She weaves tales about MC’s, the Russian Mafia and how these dangerous lifestyles come with harsh consequences. Her novels are well worth the time spent reading and provide the reader with an exceptionally well written book!
