You Again by Ashlee Mallory

A hopeless crush…

Back in high school, Allie McBride thought the sun set around Sam Fratto’s smiles, even if they were only friends. Now she’s older, wiser, hotter, and teaching at the same school they grew up in. When Sam joins the faculty, she has a chance to make good on the crush that got away. But when a dead body turns up on school grounds, they realize there might be a murderer in their midst. The heat keeps getting hotter between Allie and Sam, but more might be in danger than their hearts…

The cute kid from high school is all grown up…

A family crisis brings true-crime writer Sam Fratto back to town after more than a decade’s absence. Teaching at his alma mater seems like a good way to pass the time—especially when he sees that Allie, the geeky, sweet-mannered girl from high school, has blossomed into the saucy teacher in the classroom next door. Too bad finding a dead body transforms his return into one of his true-crime books come to life. And when it seems the killer might be after Allie next, it’s up to him to keep her safe…

A killer determined to keep the past buried at any price…

As if dealing with the return of one ghost from her past wasn’t enough, it looks like the killer might be the person they least suspected. Someone from the past. Someone with something to hide. Someone who thinks Allie and Sam are getting a little too close to the truth. If Allie and Sam are going to get out of this alive, these two friends to lovers will have to work together…or die together…

Overall rating: 3.5 Rockin' Stars!

"Sam still looked stoic and slender, but broader shoulders and the confidence of a grown man who had moved past the doubts and self-consciousness of youth.  Unfortunately, he still looked just as temptingly touchable as she'd always found him."

"Allie could smell Sam's dusky male scent mixed with grass and a little clean sweat.  Crap.  Even sweat smelled good on him."

"Strange, the affect she was having on him.  Unexpected.  And a bit unsettling.  She was a fellow teacher, a coworker.  He had strict rules about mixing work with his private life."

"Her heart was full to bursting and she gazed at the man who, in the short time he'd been back in town, had always been there for her when she needed him."

"Well, Allie McBride, you were definitely worth the wait."

As for how stories go, this one was very sweet.  An unrequited love, thought to be lost years ago in high school.  Allie McBride finally has a chance to be with the one person she has always fantasized about, Sam Fratto.  New York Times Best Selling Crime Author, Sam Fratto, has come back to town for a while to take care of his dying mother.  Remembering the sweet girl from school, he falls for her beautiful spirit and strong willed personality.  Allie is an English teacher at the high school they both attended years earlier.  The story revolves around the monumental mystery caused by a body found at the school.  Allie and Sam set out to solve the mystery, at first on their own, but are drawn to the passion they bring out in each other.  Allie's involvement in a memorial for the deceased causes her to be thrown in the crossfire of the real killer.  Together they solve the crime and finally come together in a happily ever after ending.  Great read!  ...Grēta
