For odd-girl-out Zoey Hodge, the best thing about Buckhorn, Kentucky, was leaving it behind. And now she’s back—at least until she can nurse her mother back to health and hightail it out of there anew. But there’s one person she doesn’t mind seeing again. Garrett Hudson was one of the few who was always kind to her. Now he’s a firefighter—still one of the good guys, but with a sexy alpha charm that’s tempting her inner bad girl.
In school, Zoey was smart, witty and unafraid to be herself. Garrett fell hard back then, and he’s falling even faster now. As far as he’s concerned, there are all kinds of reasons Zoey should stick around. Her pet grooming business. Her mom. And the chance for him to prove that he can be her real-life hero in every way that matters…
Overall Rating: 4 Rockin’ ★★★★
Back to Buckhorn is a quick read novella in Lori Foster's Buckhorn Brothers series. I was immediately ensconced by this short story. I've always been a huge fan of the Buckhorn Brothers and this one was no less than satisfying!
Garrett Hudson, a firefighter, good guy extraordinaire, sexy as hell, and every girls dream of Mr. Right. He is given a chance to connect with the one girl he's always wanted to kiss, Zoey.
Zoey Hodge has always been a bit eccentric. She lives life to the fullest, always trying to see the good in everyone and every situation. With a long standing a crush on the infamous Garrett Hudson, Zoey comes back to Buckhorn to start over and help her ailing mother. Little does she know that her dream guy is just as attracted to her as she is to him.
I appreciated reading the current adventures of the Buckhorn guys and their family. Lori Foster has a down home style of writing that appears in every character she creates. The depth of the hero and heroine in this story was so bedazzling. I felt as if I knew Garrett on many levels and could totally relate to Zoey's carefree spirit.
Will Garrett let love win and claim the one and only girl above all else? Can Zoey show Garrett that her whimsical way about love and happiness can complete him beyond all else? If you want a satisfying, captivating short romantic read…then read this book! Way to rock it, Lori! GrÄ“ta
