~Review: Chasing Forever Review by Lisa Cardiff~

Regan Pierce’s life is finally on right path . . .

She’s on track to graduate at the top of her class. She’s just been offered a summer associate position with one of the largest law firms in San Francisco. She’s in control of her future and the painful secrets of her past are long forgotten.

Her life is perfect . . . until Lucas Evanston, sexy former college baseball star turned lawyer extraordinaire, her boss for the summer, walks back into her life.

Six years ago, Lucas thought he’d met the woman of his dreams. Regan was everything he never knew he wanted until he ruined it all and left her broken and unable to trust.

Just like six years ago, the chemistry between them is as explosive as it is unexpected, but Regan wants nothing to do with the man who turned her life upside down and trampled her heart.

Lucas has other plans. Regan owns him, heart, body and soul and he’ll do whatever it takes to win the heart of the woman who haunts his dreams.

Overall Rating:  4 Rockin’ ★★★★

What is the chance that the one man that you never want to see again is the man that you are assigned to do you summer associate position with?  That is exactly what happens to Regan Pierce when she arrives to start work for Martin and Black, LLLP.  She had thought that she had buried that embarrassing time six years, six months, and three day ago.  But there he stands the man that had crushed her heart and self-esteem all those years ago during her freshman year.  How would she ever make it through this summer?
Sensing the charged silence, Mrs. Langston, the human resources director, cleared her throat.  “Regan Pierce, this is Lucas Evanston.  He’s been assigned as you senior associate mentor for the summer.”
Lucas had never forgotten Regan…the one that he had let go through a stupid act or lack of action on his part.  He had never been able to put her out of his mind, thoughts and dreams and now here she was working for him.  It had taken all his will power not to reach out for her and take her into his arms.  Did he regret Regan?   No never she was that important to him and a part that would be forever inside him. How would he ever survive the summer working with her, seeing her each day and knowing that she was no longer his?
Drew stared at Lucas.  Then, he sighed.  “Fine.  We won’t talk about that night, but for the record, I warned you not to do it.  I told you to make Olivia deal with her own mess instead of letting her drag you down into the mud with her.”
Lucas knows that he will have to work really hard to get Regan to forgive him for what had happened between them in the past.  He was determined that she would forgive him and he would work hard to make her see that he really meant it. Regan was determined that she would never let anyone especially Lucas manipulate her again.  She had fought long and hard to move past the betrayal he had inflected on her all those years ago. When Lucas had used her in a game designed by his girlfriend Olivia she had been totally unaware that she was being used.  Olivia had enlisted Lucas to help her use Regan to get to her father and to discredit him as a professor at the university they all attended.
She would never fall for anything related to Lucas Evanston.  She’d been there and done that, and there was absolutely no reason to repeat the ride because it sucked.
Lucas tries his best to prove that he really regrets what he did to Regan and would like to move past it.  Put there could be someone else now in her life and that would leave him out in the cold.  He also needs to deal with Olivia before he can fight for a relationship with Regan.  He could no longer be friends with Olivia at the expense of losing Regan.
“I think this is too complicated.  The waters are too deep.”  “Because of what happened in college or because of Parker?” Lucas asked, standing up from the park bench. “Yes, because of college and Parker,” she answered looking down at her bright white walking shoes that looked absolutely ridiculous with her tan linen suit.  “But because of other things too.”
Will Lucas lose Regan to Parker? Is it too late for them to move beyond the mistakes made in the past?  Will Regan give Lucas the chance to explain and will she listen to his heart and its confession of love for only her?
