A fortuitous encounter.
A meeting that should never have happened.
Many years ago, two children from completely different worlds forged a connection, a fateful connection, an unbreakable bond that would change their lives forever…
Salome knows only one way to live—under Prophet David’s rule. In the commune she calls home, Salome knows nothing of life beyond her strict faith, nor of life beyond the Fence—the fence that cages her, keeps her trapped in an endless cycle of misery. A life she believes she is destined to always lead, until a horrific event sets her free.
Fleeing the absolute safety of all she has ever known, Salome is thrust into the world outside, a frightening world full of uncertainty and sin; into the protective arms of a person she believed she would never see again.
River ‘Styx’ Nash knows one thing for certain in life—he was born and bred to wear a cut. Raised in a turbulent world of sex, Harleys, and drugs, Styx, unexpectedly has the heavy burden of the Hades Hangmen gavel thrust upon him, and all at the ripe old age of twenty-six—much to his rivals’ delight.
Haunted by a crushing speech impediment, Styx quickly learns to deal with his haters. Powerful fists, an iron jaw and the skillful use of his treasured German blade has earned him a fearsome reputation as a man not to be messed with in the shadowy world of outlaw MC’s. A reputation that successfully keeps most people far, far away.
Styx has one rule in life—never let anyone get too close. It’s a plan that he has stuck to for years, that is, until a young woman is found injured on his lot… a woman who looks uncannily familiar, a woman who clearly does not belong in his world, yet a woman he feels reluctant to let go…

Do you believe in fate? After reading this book, I do! When an eleven year old River is on a run with his pop to dump “stiffs” he discovers an unexpected place. The place reminded him of a prison surrounds by the largest fence he had ever seen. A movement behind the fence pulled his attention toward the interior where he saw a small young girl about his own age. It was as if an invisible force was actively pulling them together and entwining their souls.
“Sitting back in a trance, her wolf eyes drew me in. She looked like a ghost--no, a goddess--like the paintings on the wall at compound. Like the goddess Persephone, wife of Hades, the underworld God the Hangmen wore on their patch."
Fifteen years later fate intervenes once more when Mae manages to escape from the commune. She is severely injured but manages to find a hiding place where she immediately passes out from blood loss. Styx finds a body covered in blood, mud and assumes its dead. When she opens her eyes, he realizes it could be his girl with the wolf's eyes.
“F@!! me. Those eyes. Even through all the blood, mud, and shit on her face, those eyes f@ckin' shone--ice-blue, like a goddamn wolf's. Only seen one pair of eyes like that before..."
After an arms deal goes bad, Styx realizes there is a rat in his club. An unknown enemy is encroaching on their turf. War is in the air, who can he trust?
Nothing a brother hates more than a rat..."any guess who?"
River, “Styx” is an alpha male that has lived his entire life as a part of the Hangman Motorcycle Club. Styx is known as the Hangman Mute. He uses his fist, and fighting skills to talk. He is the President of the MC and has never given a speech or said a word in front of the club. He uses sign language to communicate with his people all except the 3...his pop, Ky, and wolf eyes.
“...someone g-g-good to take c-care of you. I-it ain't me, babe."
Mae is not only beautiful on the outside but also on the inside. She is loyal, kind and sees goodness in others. Mae is one of the four called the “Cursed” and they were kept from everyone in the commune least they tempt the males to sin.
"Mae was mine. Fifteen long year of wanting her to be mine, and here she sat, curled up in my arms--a f@ckin' angel in hell."
