The drama, violence and heartbreak continues in the second book of the Breakneck Series, Withstanding Me by Author Crystal Spears.  The Breakneck MC is under attack from the Russian Mafia, Winter and Brax are getting married and Zig Zag "ZZ" (Mason Dillan) has finally met his match in Storm (Apple Martini).  This is their story.

ZZ is known for his sexy love 'em and leave 'em lifestyle.  He doesn't commit and lives life on the edge.  He grew up in club life.  At the young age of 13 he became a father, and assumed responsibility for her care.  His daughter, Tatiana, knows how to push his buttons and continues to drive him crazy.

Storm wants more than a one night stand, more than sex, she's ready to settle down and has decided not to settle for anything less.  As ZZ pursues her she continues to stick by her commitment to not be another notch in his belt.  She cares deeply for him and the attraction continues to grow.  This heroine is a kick a$$ and ask questions later kind of gal.  I love how strong and loyal to her new family she is.

ZZ and Storm's path to find love is filled with heartache, despair, and anguish.  When an attempt is made on the ladies of Breakneck, the club rallies together to protect their own from those that want to destroy them.  Time after time ZZ approaches Storm and she continues to reject him until Brax and Angel’s wedding.

The events that occur grab and enthrall you as you turn each page in this book.  This book is well written and the characters mature as the saga unfolds.  Greg Cage from Harper Sloan's Corps Security series makes an appearance giving a new perspective on his character.  The author is brilliant in the way the plot continues to build; allowing the reader's imagination to create this sexy, hot MC world.  I love this series and look forward to reading the next book in this series!

Would I recommend this book: Yes.  This is an excellent continuation and addition to the series! Relationships are solidified and the bad guys continue in their quest for domination.   I cannot wait for Shadow's story. His introduction to the club in the first book leaves questions that need to be answered. The buildup of his background in this book creates more questions that make you want to know more about ‘WHO’ he really is.

Would I recommend this author: Yes.  Crystal Spear's knows how to write and she does it extremely well.  She writes gritty, raw MC romances that allow the reader to escape from reality for a while and immerse themselves into the world of motorcycle clubs.

Crystal Spears delves into the life of a motorcycle club in her novel Seize Me (Breakneck #1).  This is not your normal romance book.  It's full of heart-wrenching moments that will rip you apart.  The author brilliantly weaves a sordid tale of lies, betrayal and revenge.  I wasn't sure what to expect when I first began reading this book.  I love all things MC romance, but this book isn't like any I’ve ever read.

Winter Belov is an exotic dancer and she has been hiding from her "mafia" father after a brutal incident left her hatred escalating for him and his entourage.  Her best friend and roommate, Lana, understands her previous life and has helped her move forward.

Pyro, Vice President of Breakneck MC wants them to perform for his President's 30 birthday, even though Winter is not interested in doing private parties, Lana talks her into agreeing.  Lana secretly wants to know Pyro better and this would give her the chance.

Not knowing what to expect, the ladies head to the Breakneck compound for the party.  While on their way they have car problems halfway there outside of the MC's territory.  After calling Pyro, they are brought to the club for the party.  Winter is leery because she believes the Club's President is an old man.  She is kept in the dark about who he is even after their performance.

Braxton has never seen an angel like her in his life.  She is strong, sexy, beautiful and HIS!  He knows that she is his old lady and will never let her go.  The only thing he has to do is convince his Angel to accept his lifestyle, the lifestyle that she had ran away from.  


There were so many moments while I was reading where I went from crying to laughing, angry to happy, scared to comforted.  I hurt for our heroine even though she was strong beyond belief.  Here's the thing, this isn't the book for you if you are looking for a sweet HEA ending, but if you are looking for a roller coaster ride of emotions that will leaving begging for the next book in this series then this book is the one for you!

I love to read! I will read anything, literally. It may be a magazine, book, advertisement or even a cereal box. Specific authors that I follow have moved me to start writing. Before long that inspiration had produced a final product that I wasn’t even sure what I was going to do with. Obviously I hit publish and here I am.

Blessed with a great family that includes my husband, four kids, two dogs, and one hedgehog, I’ve lived in the Midwest all of my life. We currently live in a small town outside of Omaha, NE. My day job affords the ability to work from home and I’ve worked for the same lending company for nearly 19 years.

Hearing him refer to me as Cherry, not Raegan, renews and strengthens my resolve. I want him to forget my given name. Anger will help him through this, and I’m letting him have it. Better he hate me alive than love me dead. “Okay, I’m a liar. Believe what you want to believe, but it doesn’t change anything.”

“What the fuck happened to your face?”

“It was an accident.”

Turning around, looking out the large window of the apartment, I barely hear his whisper. “An accident, she says.” A brief second passes before he continues, this time not only on a whisper, but a broken and shallow voice reaches out to me and I feel it touch me when it does. “Why are you doing this, Raegan?”

Having his back to me doesn’t make this easier; not any less painful in the slightest. “Because I love my son, and Vinnie will give me a life with him.”

Hide in plain sight has been Wulf Wardsen’s motto since he fought alone side Beowulf a thousand years ago. Wulf is an immortal Viking that cannot die and heals wounds without any assistance or damage. He has finally found a group of men that accept him, have made him part of their family and protect his secret.  A military group called the Operational Detachment Alpha-5131, 5^th Special Forces Group and he is known as Sergeant Wulf Wardsen a member of that team. Even though he knows that eventually he will have to move on to another life right now he has family. Everything is going great until he finds himself on a Medevac on his way to a hospital, the last thing he needs as an immortal.   

 

Captain Theresa Chiesa has worked hard to reach the point in her life where she is self-sufficient and has nothing to do with her shady family.  She put herself through school without any assistance from them and now is serving in the armed services as a doctor in a war torn area.  Enters a soldier that was reported as severely injured by the medics, but he walks out of the hospital on his own with only a Band-Aid covering a small cut.  He leaves without any paper trail stating that he was ever there.  Theresa is a stickler for following the rules, so she begins a search for the mysterious soldier’s records.  What she finds causes her to question who and what he is and where he came from. When she is finally face to face with him nothing has prepared her for the reaction she feels. 

 

Wulf cannot stop himself from thinking about Captain Chiesa.  He knows that it is a dead in street for him to become involved with anyone but there is an ache in his soul for someone to belong too and the Captain maybe that person.  It was so long ago when he lost his wife in childbirth and also the two small twin boys that will live forever in his heart and haunt him.  During a regular run their chopper is attacked and Theresa sees the real man and his immortal abilities to heal.  Where will the future take them?  When Wulf’s past comes back to haunt him will he be able to protect Theresa and himself from his old enemy? This is a book that must be read to find the answers!

Would I recommend this book: Yes! This is a book that addresses the concept of living forever and the aloneness that would be a result of longevity. Wanting a normal life our immortal hunts for a way to be mortal again and finds love on his way!

Would I read other books by this author: Yes! This is Ms. Richland’s first book and it is amazing! I can’t wait to read her next book that will be released in October.
