Review: Kick (Savage Saints MC #1) by Carmen Jenner

When I was ten, my father indoctrinated me into the family.

A brotherhood who would fight, protect, and give their lives for one another. A club whose ties ran thicker than blood, murkier than the dirt and grime that tainted my soul. Stronger than the bonds that connected me to my own family.

A band of brothers, where loyalty was kept and paid in a currency of blood.

When I was twenty-seven, I betrayed that brotherhood.

I’ve spent every day since running, avoiding paying back that debt.

My name is Daniel Johnson. I have betrayed everyone I ever loved.

And I’ll betray her too.

This is my story—if you’re screwed up enough to want to read it.

Warning: Kick contains graphic violence, profanity, drug use, and explicit sexual situations of a taboo nature. Intended for an 18+ audience only. Not intended for pussies.

Overall Rating:  4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆

Like a Phoenix rising from the ashes…so will we rise and overcome!

Born and bred into the MC life, indoctrinated as a child by my one percenter father, I am the product of my environment!  I am Kick and I am a monster, a killer, a betrayer of those I swore to protect.  This is who I am and there is no redemption for me. Everyone that I have ever cared for dies! Now that I have found her, saved her, I will end up betraying her and yet I cannot let her go!

My name is Kayla Kennedy and I am a survivor.  I have survived being kidnapped by three deranged men, who beat me, abused me and raped me repeatedly for over three weeks.  If I could describe my life before KICK it would be normal, average, the girl next door with a loving family. After Kick I am a changed woman.  He saved me from my kidnappers, taught me how to be strong, to survive. Then Kick helped me get my vengeance on the men that destroyed the old Kayla. Indie was born out of the flames of retribution.  When Kick claims her as his, will she accept him or say goodbye?  Can she be a part of his lifestyle?

Hero:
Daniel ‘Kick’ Johnson 4.5 stars
Heroine: Kayla ‘Indie’ Kennedy 4.5 stars
Plot:  4.5 stars
Steam Level: 4.5 stars
Cliffhanger:  No

Would I recommend this book:  Yes! This is no rainbow and roses MC book!  It is a gritty love story that is outside the norm, set in a true one percenter’s life with violence and mayhem.  If you are looking for something that is different while still working for that HEA this is a read for you!

Would I recommend this author:  Yes!
Ms. Jenner writes from the heart and her books reflect that unique style and dedication! The intensity that she brings to her stories grabs her readers until the end.  Her characters are real and not sugar coated.
