Review of Cole (The Ride Series #1) by Megan O'Brien

For eight years I’d been content with my quiet life. I was safe in the bubble I’d built for myself. But I wasn’t really living.

Until one chance encounter changed it all.

Scarlet Malone has lived quietly for years hiding from her past. Aside from her best friend Kat she doesn’t allow herself to get close to anyone. Then Cole Jackson, Vice President of The Knights MC comes bursting into her life with his gorgeous eyes and fierce determination to have her in his bed and his life.

Scarlet’s letting her walls down for the first time in her life. Could Cole really be her happily ever after?

When Scarlet’s past becomes their present will she run to protect those she loves? Or can she trust in Cole to protect her life and her heart?

This is the story of Scarlet and Cole.

Overall Rating:  4.25 Rockin’ ★★★★

In the beginning there was Cole, the Vice President of the Knights MC and the son of the club’s President.  This is the first book in the Ride series by author Megan O'Brien and I was not disappointed at all in my purchase.  This was a welcomed read that made me want to read the next in the series.  It was enjoyable, entertaining and allowed me to escape into the fantasy world created by the author.  Cole and Scarlet butt heads, and fall in love in this dynamic contemporary romance!

Scarlet left California, the only home she knew when her father died and started over in Nevada.  She meets her best friend, Kat there and they became inseparable.  When Scarlet goes to the mechanic shop to pick up her car that's supposed to be ready and finds it's not, her temper explodes. Scarlet’s anger heats up and gets the best of her. She lashes out at the poor mechanic and he takes her dislike of the situation personal.  Cole Jackson quickly realizes he wants more than a one-time chance with Scarlet as he watches the feisty red head give Manny a hard time. He knows he's met his match.  Scarlet doesn't date, she really doesn't date bikers and thus the tit for tat begins between the two! No matter how much she pushes him away, Cole refuses to go.  When an enemy from her past surfaces, Cole steps up and makes his stand to protect Scarlet.

Cole and Scarlet's saga is full of drama, angst, love and eventually, happiness.  The secondary characters support the storyline and interweave in such a way that you can see where the author is taking the series. It is a steady read. Without giving much away, the chase for Cole is worth it when he lands his dream woman.  Needless to say I have already downloaded the next book in this series and can't wait to get started reading Sal’s story!
