Review of Second Chance Summer (Cedar Ridge #1) by Jill Shalvis

Cedar Ridge, Colorado, is famous for crisp mountain air, clear blue skies, and pine-scented breezes. And it's the last place Lily Danville wants to be. But she needs a job, and there's an opening at the hottest resort in her hometown. What has her concerned is the other hot property in Cedar Ridge: Aidan Kincaid-firefighter, rescue worker, and heartbreaker. She never could resist that devastating smile . . .

The Kincaid brothers are as rough and rugged as the Rocky Mountains they call home. Aidan has always done things his own way, by his own rules. And never has he regretted anything more than letting Lily walk out of his life ten years ago. If anyone has ever been in need of rescuing, she has. What she needs more than anything are long hikes, slow dances, and sizzling kisses. But that can only happen if he can get her to give Cedar Ridge-and this bad boy-a second chance . . .

Overall Rating:  4.25 Rockin’ ★★★★☆

Unrequited love, a man that will do anything for his family and a woman that cannot forget and let go of her past for a second chance at love. This is the foundation for the amazing novel Second Chance Summer by author Jill Shalvis.  In this Cedar Ridge Novel we are taken inside a close net family that has survived and continues to battle against all odds to succeed. Ms. Shalvis introduces us to the wild side of the remarkable Kincaid Clan and the inhabitants of Cedar Ridge, Colorado. This is the story of one of the Kincaid brothers, Aidan and the woman that calls to his soul.

One night under the Colorado stars, Lily Danville knew that she loved Aidan Kincaid and believed that she had found her forever love.  When Lily is faced with an unbelievable family tragedy her beautiful dreams are destroyed.  After ten years of denial, Lily finds herself back where everything started, Cedar Ridge.  One of the first people she runs into is the one man she had tried to forget, Aidan.  Has fate returned her to this place and man?  Time will tell if she can move past the blame and regret and accept the healing that is offered.

Time has not changed the feelings that Aiden feels for the woman that ran away from him without a backward glance. He has always put others first, his mother, his siblings, their family business and his job as a firefighter and search and rescue volunteer.  Maybe it is time for him to put his heart and need for Lily first.  But first he has to help her heal and to find a way to forgive herself.  Then show her that where she belongs is with him.

Loved the bad boy assertiveness that all of the Kincaid brothers exhibited and the strong feisty women that kept them rock steady. You will laugh, while crying and just continue turning the pages of this remarkable novel until you find out what happens next.  This is a true Rocky Mountain high for all those readers that love true romance with an attitude!
