Review: Sol (Luna Lodge #1) by Madison Stevens

Erica Scott is good at sniffing out embezzlers, frauds and other financial criminals, or at least she was when she had a job.

After an unfortunate lay-off, her options are limited. One path is to work with a narcissistic creep, her best friend's boyfriend. The other is Luna Lodge, a place controlled by the mysterious hybrids, the super-soldier products of a horrific genetic engineering project.

Sol, a hybrid and the head of security at the lodge, doesn't know how much he can trust Erica. Suspicious that the woman may be a spy for his former masters, the sinister Horatius Group, he is determined to keep an eye on her, but his body wants a lot more than that.

When someone targets the lodge, the suspect list quickly grows. Sol and Erica will have to fight against their burning passion and keep their focus to save themselves and the lodge.

Overall Rating:  3.5 Rockin’ ★★★☆

Erica is alone, she has lost her job and the only friend she has is involved with someone that gives her the creeps.  When she is asked to attend a special opening with her friend and her boyfriend, she agrees to go.  What she didn’t expect was to meet a man that was more than just human.  He takes her breath away when their eyes meet across the room.  It feels like they belong together.  Is he the answer to her loneliness?
Sol, is more than just a man.  He was part of an experiment by the Horatius Group to enhance humans and create a hybrid species.  When he and the other hybrids were liberated they were given a place to live and start a new life.  Sol is in charge of keeping his people safe and acts as the head of security. The night of the grand opening of their Lodge, he meets a woman that pulls him to her.  He has never experienced anything like this before and tries to deny the attraction.
Someone is trying to sabotage the hybrids and keep them from living independently. Funds are disappearing and accidents are happening within the community.  Erica has a special gift of finding out where things are going, so she is hired to help unravel the mystery.  Will Erica and Sol find a way to be with each other?  Or will the evil that is trying to destroy them succeed?

Hero: Sol 3.5 stars
Heroine: Erica Scott 3.5 stars
Plot:  3.5 stars
Steam Level:  3.5 stars
Cliffhanger:  No

Would I recommend this book:  Yes. I really like the approach this author used to introduce a new species and the battles they would have fight for acceptance. This is a more than a Sci-Fi story, it is the story of love found by two different species and the journey they have to make to overcome prejudice.

Would I recommend this author:  Yes.  Even though Ms. Street is a new author, I am impressed with her unique storyline and characters that seem to live within the pages of her books.
