Boomer Steele is big. He’s bad. He’s the Retribution MC pres. He’s been dealt the worst hand imaginable and bears the scars inside and out. Not that anyone knows it. He’s watched his younger brother and sister hook up and hitch up with the loves of their lives, and now he’s the last Steele standing alone. Maybe he should keep it that way.
Then one feisty honey makes him feel, gets in his grill, pisses him off.
She goes by the name of Rayce. And that’s exactly what she does on her motocross bike when she’s not busy getting her hands dirty with her fellow grease monkeys as the only female mechanic at Stone’s Garage. She’s into fixing bikes, racing hers, and making Boomer’s life a living hell just for the fun of it. Oh, and she hates being treated like a girl.
Sparks flying? That’s an understatement where these two are concerned. Yet when Rayce needs a place to live, and Boomer offers her a room in his house, their unquenchable attraction wins out over antagonism. Sometimes. Rayce’s crappy upbringing makes her think love is for stupid fools asking for heartbreak. She’s not willing to go there for any man. Not even Boomer Steele.
The bigger they are, the harder they fall.
Note to readers: this book addresses the issue of domestic abuse.
Overall Rating: 4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆
Chrome and Steele mixed with grease and a tomboy mechanic that rides a motorcycle…what about that scenario doesn’t get the blood pumping? Once again the amazingly talented Rie Warren creates a world of alpha male deliciousness, humor and sizzling heat with her latest in the Carolina Bad Boys series. Chrome is the fourth book in this series and it is Jayce and Boomer Steele’s story. This big, bad alpha male meets his match when he meets a woman that is not afraid to get down and dirty (literally) with Retribution MC’s Prez!
Boomer Steel has always been the protector, the one that watches over those he loves and will do anything to keep them safe. His little sister is now safe with a man that has taken over Steele’s job as her protector and his brother has also found love. Everything seems perfect, well everything except Boomer is now living alone in a big empty house with just a dang cat for company! All that changes when he meets a woman that fills all the voids in his life and heart, Rayce. But Rayce has dark secrets that she hides and refuses to share or allow him to protect her from.
He is everything she has ever dreamed of and too good for the likes of her…trailer trash from the other side of the tracks. How could he possibly want her? Rayce marches to her own beat, riding her motorcycle, racing her motocross bike, working as a mechanic in a male dominated world. How could she ever fit into Boomer’s world? He has a successful business, is the Prez of an MC, has a loving family and the man is too beautiful for words. Rayce has secrets, dark secrets that she keeps hidden from the world and can never be shared. But Boomer keeps chipping away at the wall she has her heart encased in and she is afraid that he will break through and discover the real Rayce…the hidden girl behind the tough girl exterior!
Love is not a respecter of station, position or wealth, but a leveling field for everyone. In this amazing story about the oldest Steele brother, Ms. Warren envisioned and created a story that will leave the reader totally ensnared. Her characters are unforgettable and melded in a way that you feel like you know them. This story also deals with horrific situations that are real world relevant. As always the pages sizzle and is filled with humor. I cannot wait to see where this gifted writer will take me next!
