Review: Darkness (New Species #12) by Laurann Dohner

Darkness is Book 12 in Laurann Dohner’s New Species series.  Prejudice, bigotry and hate are the first impressions you receive when you meet FBI Special Agent Katrina Perkins’ boss Robert Mason! From the start of this book you feel his evil intent towards the New Species from this man. From the moment Kat and Darkness meet the attraction is explosive, this is their story.

Kat has little respect for her boss but has no choice but to take the assignment he gives her.  An assignment that has her infiltrating NSO to search for a missing man and find proof that the New Species are not as innocent as they seem.  Kat sees the New Species as the victim not the criminals her boss does.  She cannot refuse the assignment but knows since this is personal to Robert Mason, he is putting nails his own coffin by sending her to NSO. This is the perfect time to relax and treat this as a vacation because there is no way she is going to do what her superior asked. She will go undercover, enjoy getting to know more about New Species and help get rid of her boss all at the same time. What can possible go wrong?

Darkness has special training that makes him the perfect tool for the NSO.  He is a master interrogator and can break anyone, find out any secrets that they may be hiding. The secrets from his past, hide deep inside, they haunt him and refuse to let him release the horror and guilt he feels.  He had trusted a woman once and the consequences of that trust was the nightmare from his past.  Darkness found it easier to have nothing to do with women because they made you weak.  Until the day Kat entered his life and all hell broke loose!

Evil knows no bounds and will do anything to destroy good!  Kat and Darkness are caught up in the evil that wants to destroy the New Species.  They must learn to work together and trust each other to overcome those that work to take out NSO.  Will they find a way? Can Darkness put his past behind and look to his future?  Is Kat the woman that will help him heal?  This is a must read for Laurann Dohner fans!

Would I recommend this book:  Yes.  If you enjoy Science Fiction Romance then you will love this book!  It has everything an extraordinary read needs to keep you reading, a sexy haunted alpha male and a beautiful, smart woman that can hold her on against his darkness.  The sizzling hot sex doesn’t hurt either!

Would I recommend this author:  Yes.  Ms. Dohner continues to write remarkable books that leave her fans wanting the next one! It book just gets better than the last! Kudos to you Laurann and your wonderful series, New Species.
