Review of Bear My Soul (Fire Bears #1) by T.S. Joyce

Rory Dodson is done running. After one night of bliss with a man she never thought she’d see again, she’s in trouble with a young son who is housing one ferocious little bear cub inside of him. Desperate to keep her baby’s secret safe, she has nowhere to turn but to the man she was determined to keep in her past. What she doesn’t expect is the instantaneous, heart-pounding connection she remembers from before. But all of the sex appeal in the world can’t hide the fact that Cody Keller is keeping dark secrets of his own.
Alpha bear shifter, Cody, is a firefighter by day but something more sinister by night. Towing a fine line between leading a normal life and keeping the government off his crew’s back, he has been running missions that few sane men would take, and even fewer would survive. But when the woman he has searched six years for blows back into town, toting a kid who bears his mark, his life is about to get a whole lot more complicated.

It’s not enough to protect the Breck Crew from the growing threats around him anymore. Cody will have to push back and stand up for his kind if he wants a shot at keeping his fragile new family safe from what he’s become.

Content Warning: explicit love scenes, naughty language, and piles of sexy shifter secrets.
Adult only bear shifter romance.

Overall Rating:  4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆

Fire Bears is a new series by author T.S. Joyce.  The first book is Bear My Soul and she has done an outstanding job linking the Saw Bears series to this one. The cover caught my attention and then the author's name screamed for me to purchase it the moment I laid eyes on it.  It was another blissful day of entering the fantasy world created by this author.  Although this book had darker undertones, there was also light-hearted comedy.  This is Cody and Rory's journey to finding their HEA in this action-packed romance.

Cody has served his country as a solider in the military and is now home, continuing to serve his community.  He's a firefighter in his home town and also the alpha of the local bear clan. Five years ago, he met Rory and one thing led to another but after one night of passion, she disappeared and he hadn't heard from her since. He owes her a debt, because she had helped release him from his bond with Sarah.  It was a very rare thing to happen under any circumstance. The next time he sees Rory, she has a big surprise for him and she needs his help, desperately.

Rory has been struggling to provide for her son, Aaron.  He's a bear shifter.  The one night with Cody had produced their beautiful son, but she knows nothing about raising a bear cub. She needs to find out if Cody knows about bear shifters and if he is the solution to her problems.  Does Cody have the answers she has been looking for, the ones that will help their son? She needs to trust someone and he is Aaron’s father. The feelings that she thought she had left behind, are still there the first time she comes face to face with Cody, the man she cannot forget.

I have thoroughly enjoyed every book I have read by this author, but this book was by far my favorite to date.  The main characters shared funny and sad moments together as they grew into a family. The secondary characters that are introduced created the close family crew and someone from the Ash Crew shows up too! This book continues at a steady pace. The drama unfolds with the lies and deceit from the villain, who is holding all the cards. You are held in suspense hoping for the couples happily ever "bear" after. This is another great paranormal romance I have added to my library and I truly hope you will take the time to read this amazing book!
