~Review: Bound to Danger (Deadly Ops #2) by Katie Reus~

At a benefit dinner, community activist Maria Cervantes overhears two men plotting a terrorist attack that could rock Miami to its core. But before she can alert authorities, she’s almost killed in a massive explosion—and wakes up in a hospital with no memory of what happened. As the sole survivor of the attack, she is now a person of interest to the NSA—and especially to Agent Cade O’Reilly. Because Maria is the one woman Cade has never been able to forget.

Years ago, they were closer than either was willing to admit—until Cade disappeared when Maria needed him most. Now he’s sticking by her, whether she likes it or not. Because the memories locked inside her mind could hold vital clues to the next attack. Because terrorists want her dead—and because he never wants to let her go again.

Overall Rating:  4.5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆

Cade O’Reilly is a former Marine that now works with NSA.  He had been recruited to work undercover on secret missions for the government.  Since Cade had no family it was easy for him to slip in and out of the country using different aliases. His only regret was the loss of his best friend, Riel Cervantes on a mission that had him returning and Riel dead.  Cade also missed Riel’s sister Maria but because he blames himself for Riel’s death he had severed all contact with Riel’s family.

When Riel’s mother is killed in a terrorist bombing at a social event in Miami, Cade takes the case.  It also put in the position to protect Maria, Riel’s sister and the only woman he had ever wanted.  It doesn’t take long to see that Maria is in danger from the terrorist that were systematically taking our elite members’ of Miami’s society.  Someone thinks that Maria knows something or that she overheard something the night of the bombing that killed her mother.  Cade goes into protective mode and places himself as her bodyguard.

Maria has no recollection of what happened the night of the bombing.  She is suffering from amnesia and only gets brief glimpses of that night. One benefit from the terror that is surrounding her is that Cade is once again in her life.  Maria knows that he is hiding something from her and wants to find out why he disappeared and never contacted her after Riel’s death.  The attraction is strong between the two of them and time has done nothing to weaken the feels that they share for one another.

Even with all the danger around them, will Cade find a way back to Maria?  Can he keep her safe while he solves the terrorist threat? Will he admit the way he feels and explain why he disappeared from her life?
