~Review: My Control (Inside Out #4.1) by Lisa Renee Jones~

Mark's POV novella

I have lost the man I once was, letting guilt and heartache define who I am. Darkness has controlled me, and one woman has seen what no one else has seen in me, what I do not wish to exist. My hunger for her has driven me to the edge of sanity, but no more. She's about to find out that the Master has returned.

Overall Rating:  5 Rockin’ ★★★★☆

Everything is coming to an explosive climax in the Inside Out series by Lisa Renee Jones.  This short novella addresses Mark’s point of view at this point in the ongoing investigation into Rebecca’s death and also his growing feelings for Crystal Smith. His feelings are so twisted due to his past with Rebecca and the guilt he feels for what has happened to her.  Mark finds himself experiencing feelings that are unfamiliar to him and causes him to struggle against giving into a possible relationship with Crystal. Each page reveals a kaleidoscope of emotions that they sizzle with their intensity.

Crystal knows that Mark is hurting and blaming himself for Rebecca’s death and regardless of the feelings he evokes in her, she refuses to give into them.  Mark will destroy her if she gives in and goes with her desires.  She is not a submissive and will not be one even for Mark. Crystal has worked for Mark’s mother and father for five years and they are very important to her.  She would do anything to help them during this traumatic time.  If that means helping Mark during this time then she will do it because Mark needs to be with his mother during her illness.  Not on the other side of the country worrying about his business and the damage done by publicity about his involvement with Rebecca’s death.   She is an expert running a business like his gallery and is willing to stay and take care of things while he returns to his mother’s bedside.

Mark refuses to let Crystal in, even though she touches him in a way no one ever has before.  He must assume the mantle of the Master again and show her who he really is, the Master that is in control.  Will Mark be able to convince Crystal that she needs to stay far away from him?  Can Crystal help Mark heal the trauma to his soul? Read this novella to find out!
