Eversea (Eversea #1) by Natasha Boyd

Eversea, a love story, is a Winter Rose Contest FINALIST 2013. Emilia Pisani of Simon & Schuster (judge) says "Great southern flavor!" and "Jack is an alluring leading man!"

An orphaned, small-town, southern girl, held hostage by responsibility and self-doubt.

A Hollywood A-list mega-star, on the run from his latest scandal and with everything to lose.

A chance encounter that leads to an unlikely arrangement and epic love affair that will change them both forever.

When his co-star and real-life girlfriend is caught cheating on him with her new director, A-list hottie, Jack Eversea, finds himself in sleepy Butler Cove, South Carolina. Jack hopes the sultry southern heat in this tiny coastal Lowcountry town will hide him not only from the tabloids and his cheating girlfriend, but his increasingly vapid life and the people who run it. He doesn’t count on meeting Keri Ann Butler.

Keri Ann has relied on herself so long, dealing with her family’s death and the responsibilities of keeping up her family's historic mansion, that boys and certainly the meager offering of eligible boys in Butler Cove, have never figured into her equation. But fate has other plans. Suddenly face to face with the man who played the movie role of her favorite fictional character, Jack has Keri Ann yearning for everything she has previously avoided ... and Jack must decide whether this funny, sassy girl is worth changing his life for, before his mistakes catch up to him.

Overall rating: 4
"The truth of the matter was no boy I knew lived up to the fantasy I'd created from the many books I'd read, and I wasn't going to settle."
"And then, suddenly, when you get away from it for just a moment, it's like you are in this big drowning vacuum of nothingness.  There's no you.  There's no one telling you how to be you, or what to do, it's just you, except there's no you anymore."
"love was taking a chance at life...or was it life is taking a chance at love?"
Jack Eversea is a character that I fell in love with immediately.  His wayward ways of mystery put me on the edge wanting more of him.  Because of his status as a mega movie star, it is hard to understand him at first, but when things come to light, you can't help but feel his pain and long for him to have his one true love.  Kerri Ann Butler is a force unto herself.  This character has all the traits of a wholesome, beautiful spirited human being.  She is feisty, yet reserved, and very inspiring.  Kerri Ann lost her parents when she was young and was raised by her grandmother, God rest her soul, and her older brother Joey who is studying to become a doctor.  She has always put everyone's needs ahead of her own, until she meets tall dark and handsome.  In the end, she is my hero!

This story takes place in a little town, Butler Cove, on the border of South Carolina and Georgia, near Savannah, Georgia.  It begins when a mystery man, aka Jack Eversea, comes into the little bar and grill that Kerri Ann works at.  There are words spoken and it seems that they both are unconnected.  However, things are not always what they seem and the love that grows between the two is like lightening.  So hot and electric it will take you over the edge!  Keeping with the ever present theme, you learn that even Hollywood can have morals and to the most insignificant of us all, wonderful, beautiful things can happen.  For a brief period of time, they are able to capture a spectacular romance, filled with all the passion and excitement two people can share.

With all the baggage that comes with Jack, it appears that Kerri Ann has to give up on her knight in shining armor when unexpected things happen that draws him back in to the craziness of Hollywood.  In the end...this book leaves you hanging.  I won't spoil the rest, but I couldn't put this book down and was longing to read the rest of the story!  Way to go Natasha.  This is a good read! ...GrÄ“ta
