"He loved her. Not
just the love and respect he had for her as a friend all these years. It was more than that."
"It's crazy to think that if the plane crash had never
happened, we wouldn't be here like this. It's like a ripple effect. One thing
happens, which causes a wave of ripples around that event. One thing can change the course of your life
forever. I can't imagine not having you
in my life."
"You mean so much to me.
You always have. The way I feel
about you...well, it's strong and I don't quite know how to deal with this
yet. It scares me and thrills me all at
the same time. I know I'm being
cautious, but it's because I care so much about you."
"I think you know that I'm not big on taking risks, but
taking a chance with you is one I'm more than willing to do."
"He loved her, needed her, wanted everything about her in
his life. A summer would never be long
enough, but it was a start."
"Somehow, she saw the light at the end of the tunnel. The rainbow after the storm. They would find a way."
"The thing I learned is life does go on. People might leave us way too early and it
sucks, but we as survivors have to keep living."
Where to begin...this was a true romantic, tragedy. Two child survivors of a plane crash, were
brought together by horrible circumstances, which helped to forge an
unbreakable connection, a permanent bond.
Hunter Beckman, a plane crash survivor at 12 years old, has lived
his life fighting the demons from that crash.
Having no family of his own, much like Becca, he created the life he
has, became a pilot of all things, and has a deep seated love for the one
person who has always been there for him. The one person he sought to save for
five long days on that tragic day when he was just a child himself, Becca.
Rebecca Lange, Becca, has fought for her life from the beginning
as an 8 year old survivor of a plane crash.
Being told she would never walk again, or that she couldn't do what the
doctors said, she forged ahead and never let those circumstances hold her
back. Becca became a strong woman, even
with the many things she was still afraid of, one being flying. An artist herself, she teaches handicap
children to paint, draw, and create art.
Her profound, unconditional love for one man has left her numb to all
others. The one person that she knew
would always make her feel safe, Hunter.
Hunter and Becca's friendship over the years, brought them to the
place of wanting more. Neither one ever
wanted to break the beautiful bond they had, but taking it to the next step was
inevitable. The author did a wonderful
job turning that friendship into an unshakable, deep love, that draws a
connection between two people unlike anything else in the world. I could literally feel the union through the
author's words and was drawn to these characters and their plight. My heart took a dive many times throughout
the story, because of the never ending twists and turns that this couple was accustomed
to. So much tragedy and heartache, I
ached right along with them. The
beautiful thing is, the author sprinkled in such goodness through Rebecca's
character which even through all the anguish, made me feel really good as well.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Rebecca and Hunter's story. I must say, I was a bit at a loss at the end
when the author left me hanging with so many unanswered questions. However, I look forward to reading the next
book and hope to have all my answers revealed.
Kudos to you Nikki, for composing a magnificent masterpiece of love...
