~Review: On Her Watch (Don’t Tell #2) by Rie Warren~

War is raging in the InterNations Territories and within Lieutenant Liz Grant’s heart.

AWOL from her post for several months, Liz is on a mission to infiltrate the Beta Corps military, desperate to find out who murdered her father and turn the revolution in the insurgents’ favor. Commander Linc Cutler stands in her way. Coldly handsome and in control, his desire for her causes a crack in her deep cover.

She’s certain he holds the key to her past as well as her future, but Linc has pledged his allegiance to the oppressive Company regime headed by his father. Through escalating intrigue, espionage, and runaway passion, Liz is thrust into an impossible situation.

Lives, the Revolution, love at stake, it all comes down to the one man Liz shouldn’t trust.

Overall Rating:  4 Rockin’ ★★★★

Liz Grant is a woman that has lost everything to a corrupt government and the prejudices of the future world she lives in.  Her father was killed by Nomads and her mother committed suicide because she could not live without her husband.  Liz becomes a member of the military so that she can track down her father’s killers. When she finds out that the very government that she works for are the ones that killed her father she escapes and joins the rebellion.

“Your father, First Class Medical Officer and Chief Geneticist Robie Grant, is dead.”  He sped through the details of a gruesome killing at the hands of Nomads, speaking like an automation, no emotion on his face, no inflection in his voice.

Liz returns to the fold of the government as an undercover agent for the Rebellion.  Her job is to get close to the Commander or his father and get as much information as she can to help bring them down.  She is taken back in and finds herself attracted to Commander Linc Cutler, her assigned target.  Liz begins to think that maybe there is more to Linc than just a leader of the establishment.  Especially when Linc shows his own attraction toward Liz is just as intense as her attraction to him.

“My immediate attraction to him was unexpected, and worse, unsettling, as the sensual line of his mouth became a single neat slash while he watched my perusal.”

Will Linc and Liz find a way to love in this world of intolerance?  Can Linc save Liz from the evil of his father, the leader of this world?

Would I read other books by this author: Yes!  I enjoyed the author’s perspective of how a future Earth will be and would like to read another book.
