Overall Rating:  5 Rockin’ ★★★★

Miss Jane Elizabeth Goodwin has been raised as an independent thinker and does not suffer fools lightly.  When Jane finds her betrothed and one of the maids going at it in the library during a dinner party her reaction is not exactly what one would expect of a refined young lady of breeding in 1887 Boston.  She is stunned that he would believe that she would act like nothing had happened and rejoin the dinner party given in their honor.  Jane has never been one to hold her tongue so when her fiance states that this is normal behavior for a husband and she will need to know her place, she immediately returns to the dinner and lets his parents know exactly why they are late.  Then she takes her leave with her Aunt Cornelia leaving behind a stunned room.
Aunt Cornelia sends Jane to London so that she will be away from the problems that her ex-fiancĂ© it continuing to stir up.  A friend of her aunt is starting a writing group and it would be a good way to leave the gossip behind in Boston.   This would be an adventure for Jane since the Queen’s Jubilee will be celebrated during the time she is there and she will get to help organize the writing club.  With her aunt’s encouragement Jane agrees to go to London where she will stay with Mrs. Hampton and start her writing. On arriving in London she takes a train to the London Bridge station where she is met by Mrs. Hampton and her nephew Wesley.  When she is almost plowed down by Inspector Mansfield as her hurries to a crime scene, Jane cannot believe she has stumbled onto her first story even though it could possibly be a dangerous one. This is the beginning of Jane’s misadventures in London and her attempt to solve a string of grisly murders.
Jane decides to go undercover to infiltrate an exclusive gentlemen’s club where she thinks the answers she is looking for will be found. Unknown to Jane is the fact that Inspector Randolph Mansfield is a card carrying member of this club and uses it to indulge in his darker sexual side.  Randolph knows that being a part of this particular club could ruin his reputation and cause him to lose his position but it seems this is the only way to satisfy his inner cravings. What neither is expecting is the attraction that runs between them.  Will Jane help solve the murders and remain unscathed?  Or will she succumb to the dark side and be pulled into a macabre mystery?  Can Randolph protect Jane and still do his job?  Expect the unexpected when things move toward the capture of the person responsible for all the murders. ~TSRBR
