There is a spy in S&D systems who is leaking top-secret information that could lead to extreme distaster. It's up to Shane Gallagher to uncover the mole and set things right.

Systems analyst Elena Reyes had no intention of stealing company secrets until her brother's life was threatened by the cruelest of mobsters. When Elena finally confesses her deeds to Shane, he's ready to do everything he can to keep her out of danger. But will Shane's help be enough to protect them, or will his good intentions leave them all for dead?

Overall Rating:  3.5 Rockin’ ★★★☆

Elena’s family was political refugees from San Marcos.  They had left the country when she was a young child and settled in the United States.  Elena had worked hard in her studies and now had a respectable job in an IT department of a large company.  While she had used her opportunity to take advantage of the American dream her brother had not been so fortunate.  Her parents still had a difficult time letting go of the past and how the government controlled their lives.  Elena had been raised the way her family believed was appropriate for women and she found it difficult to act like an all American woman.  Everything in her life was perfect until Shane Gallagher was hired as the new security chief of S and D.

“She was afraid of him, and at the same time she was attracted to him, and she thought the attraction was mutual.  But there were times when it felt like he had something against her, something she didn’t understand, because she had no idea what she’d done to set him against her.  That part was like the soldiers back home.

Shane was an ex-army investigator and part owner of a security company.  He had agreed to go undercover to help find the person or persons that were attempting to steal a new program.  His job was to look at everyone and locate the guilty person and that meant he had to investigate anyone that could have the knowledge and access to the information.  One of the possible suspects happens to be Elena Reyes and Shane cannot escape the attraction that he feels for her.  He cannot stop asking himself, is she hiding something to help or protect to her family?  The more he learns about Elena the more confused he is about her.

Shane dragged in a breath and let it out as he watched Elena hurry into the building.  She’d been on edge with him, and he needed to know why. Because she was deep into something illegal that she was afraid the security chief was going to discover?  If that was the case, she could be in danger, which gave him another reason to find out what had prompted her reaction to him.

Elena has a feeling that she is being watched and possibly followed. When her brother Alesandro tells her that he needs her help and if she doesn’t help him he could end up dead, Elena doesn’t know where to turn.  He tells her that Arnold Blake had hidden the information that he promised to deliver and the fact that he did not deliver it had cost him his life. Now Alesandro needed her to find it and get to him before it was too late.   Elena’s first reaction is to tell Shane and ask for his help, he would know how to handle this situation.  But Elena realizes that what her brother is asking her to do is wrong.

"I’m not sure it was stealing.  But that’s not the point.  They want more now.  They beat me up as a warning. Next time they’ll kill me-unless you get that thing from S&D.”

When Elena agrees to go and search for the hidden information she is full of doubt about doing this for her brother.  She finds the missing information and realizes that she cannot give it to her brother.  A man was killed for this information and she would be a part of that evil.  Elena knows that she must trust Shane and tell him all that has happened and give him what she has found.  They are attacked and Elena is taken but Shane rescues her and takes her to a safe house where they can work out a plan.  Will they escape and find out who is behind all the killings and attempted kidnappings?

Conflicting emotions surged through her.  She wanted reassurances that everything was going to be all right. And at the same time, she wanted Shane to know that the current danger had made her admit that her feelings for him ran deep-as deep as she’d suspected.
