Gabe knew the moment he saw Isabelle Masters that she was the one that could fill his empty life. But she belonged to another man and that meant hands off until she is free. He saw her often at social events that they both attended and the more he saw the more he liked. Gabe had given up on women after being burned in his marriage. He had been too young and when his wife died he kept a safe emotional distance so that he would not become involved again that is until he saw Isabelle.
“She was taken, and all he could do was admire. Look and not touch. But if she ever became available, all bets were off.”
Isabelle has spent the last few years in an abusive relationship that she did not realized how bad it was until the very end. She had found pictures in a file on their shared laptop of her significant other and their next door neighbor in some really graphic sexual positions. Walking out was extremely hard but there was no way that Isabelle could live with him under these circumstances. She left with the clothes on her back and her car. Little did she know that Lance would have her arrested for auto thief and put in jail? Isabelle realizes that this is just a ploy on his part to get her back under his control.
“Charges dropped,” the cop restated. “As long as you agree to relinquish the car.” My head whipped up. “That bastard.” He was still trying to control me.
Gabe arrives at the police station where his brother is a cop and finds Isabelle cuffed and held waiting for release. As he talks with her he realizes that she does not want any part of her ex-Lance. She has left him and has nowhere to go and a minimum amount of money her ex had stripped her of everything and intended to reclaim her. Gabe knows that this is his chance and grabs hold with both hands. Isabelle will be his and he will take care of her. But Isabelle has different ideas and refuses to go from one controlling man to another. But given no other choice she agrees to go home with Gabe and stay until she can make other arrangements. Isabelle cannot believe that Gabe is willing to defend her and protect her from her ex-boyfriend, he doesn’t just talk he acts.
Gabe was defending me. Surprise, gratitude, and a host of unfamiliar emotions washed over me. My own parents hadn’t defended me throughout my teenage years. Lance sure as hell had never truly supported me in any way. Yet Gabe was pulling what had to be million-dollar accounts from Lance’s firm. Because of me.
Gabe is willing to do whatever needs to be done to help Isabelle feel safe and taken care of but also he wants to help her find herself. Can this alpha male let Isabelle stand on her own two feet? Will Isabelle be able to move on with her life and accept Gabe? Can they both put the past behind and find their soul mate in each other? Or will there be a serpent in Eden?

Would I recommend this book: Yes! If you believe in true love and soul mates then this is the right book for you. Love, loyalty and the ability to let another become all that they can be without holding them back is beautifully told in this special book.
Would I read other books by this author: Yes! Love the way this author shows how even an alpha male can support and build up his woman without giving up his maleness. I cannot wait to read another book from this gifted writer.
