~Review: Who Wants to Marry a Doctor? (With This Ring) by Abigail Sharpe~

A WITH THIS RING NOVEL

The Doctor Is In . . .

As a single mom and pediatrician, Sabrina Bankhead doesn't have time for romance. All that changes when she reluctantly agrees to take part in a dating show fundraiser for a children's hospital. But once she sets eyes on the journalist hired to cover the show, none of the four contestants stand a chance. If she doesn't choose one of the eligible bachelors, the hospital doesn't raise a cent. What's a lovestruck doc to do?

Investigative journalist Quinn Donnelly is on the mend after an assignment in Afghanistan left him both physically and emotionally scarred. Though he's itching to return overseas and finish his story, he'll have to be content with this fluff piece assignment to cover a local dating show. One-night stands are Quinn's forte-but after he meets Sabrina, he's ready to say yes for the long haul. After years of chasing the next big story, Quinn is starting to wonder if maybe home really can be where the heart is . . .

Overall Rating:  4 Rockin’ ★★★★

Dr. Sabrina Bankhead is a dedicated single mother and pediatrician.  She loves her job and is respected in the community where she cares for the children that need her services.  With that in mind she agrees to participate in a fund raiser to raise funds for the Children’s Clinic in her small town.  Sabrina agreed to go on dates with three of the communities most eligible bachelors and have it televised for the community to vote on the one she should continue dating.  The only problem is that she doesn’t want any one delving into her past and learning the name of her son’s father.  The master of ceremonies is also a big, I CAN’T BELIEVE HOW HOT HE IS, kind of reaction that Sabrina doesn’t know if she can resist.

“Suddenly the favor she was doing for her boss didn’t seem so bad.  Sabrina studied the man as he looked around the bar and holy hell, what a study he was.  Thick dark hair framed a chiseled face that sat atop broad shoulders and a long, lean body.”

Quinn is a world famous reporter just returned from an assignment in Afghanistan where his team had been ambushed by insurgents.  He loves his job and can’t wait to get back to Afghanistan and finish his story.  Quinn’s sister had volunteered him to host the fund raiser and it was not really something that he was looking forward to doing.  He planned on investigating and getting to know each person involved in the show, starting with the doctor.  When Quinn first meets Sabrina he is totally not expecting his reaction to her,

“Thinking of Sabrina was much more entertaining.  He hadn’t expected his body’s response to her or her sweet peppermint and lavender scent.”

Sabrina really starts rethinking have her life invaded and videotaped for the world to watch, but she can’t say no because the town really needs the clinic for the children.  Quinn tells her that he will help her get through the show and do anything he can to make it easier.   He also begins to think that the men that have been selected as bachelors are not good enough for Sabrina.   During his research and investigation of the participants in the show, Quinn is really shocked by their disrespectful attitudes and a side bet on who will get the doctor.  He is also beginning to want more from Sabrina than his position as Master of Ceremonies allows.

“Want to put some money on it?  One hundred bucks from each of us.  Whoever plays doctor first gets the cash.”

Who will get the doctor?  Will Quinn stake a claim of his own?  Or will he leave and return to the battle field of Afghanistan?

Would I recommend this book: Yes! Loved this book!  It highlighted the damage done by war to those serving in the military, while stressing the strength of family during the healing of physical and mental wounds.  This is also a love story that tells us that not all paths to love are easy but it is there for those that preserve.

Would I read other books by this author: Yes! I enjoyed the unique way the author told the story through her characters and tied their lives together.  Can’t wait to read the next book in the Who Wants to Marry? Series.
