~Review: Something Sweeter by Candis Terry~

Synopsis
The men in Texas are hard to resist . . . Seattle event planner Allison Lane is an expert at delivering the perfect wedding—even if she might not exactly believe in the whole "'til death do us part" thing. When her father decides to tie the knot with a woman he barely knows, Allison heads to Sweet, Texas, to make sure his new honey is the real deal. What she didn't expect to find at the local honky-tonk was a sexy Southern man as bent on charming her pants off as he is on blowing her "true love doesn't exist" theory all to hell. And they always promise . . .

Veterinarian, former Marine, and Sweet's favorite playboy Jesse Wilder takes one look at Allison and knows she's a handful of trouble he can't deny. But even after a sizzling kiss and obvious mutual attraction, it seems Allison has no such problem. When Jesse uncovers her sweet side, can he crush his playboy image, melt her cynical heart, and change her mind about taking a trip down the aisle?

Review

Overall Rating:  4 Rockin’ ★★★★☆

Have you ever looked across a crowded room and stared into the eyes of your future?  That is exactly what happens to Jesse Wilder when he sees Allie Lane.  Jesse does not want a special someone right now, he is busy trying to take care of his family and help them find their happily ever after.  It’s not his turn yet, he still has his baby brother that needs to find his happiness.  So why is it such a struggle for him to distance himself from the beautiful woman that is pulling him towards her without any effort?
He might be the best damn vet in town, but protecting his family was his number one job.  Therefore, he wouldn’t allow her and her dazzling, flirtatious smile to threaten his brother’s happiness.

Allie knew he was trouble the moment she meet his gaze and he danced her across the floor.  There was something that tugged at her mind and said run, because this one is trouble with a capital T.  She was attracted to him and there lay the problem, he was the kind of man she always went for and ended up with a broken heart.  Allie was not looking for a happily ever after guy, she didn’t believe that love and forever was real.  She had her own parents as a model and look how that had ended.  All she wanted was a one night stand with a guy that she could leave without damage to her heart and Jesse was not a guy you would be able to forget.

Jesse looked like a bona fide heart ripper.

Several things happened, one she should never have touched Jesse let alone kissed him, two when she didn’t immediately let go of all that male goodness.  Allie knew she was in trouble when he took control and the kiss went viral!  Everything about him pulled her closer and her flight DNA kicked it.  Playing on his Southern Gentleman manners she was able to leave without getting involved any deeper with Jesse.  So when she arrived at the Bar-Be-Cue planned to celebrate her father’s engagement and to introduce her to her future in-laws, what’s the chance that Jesse is there?  Not only is her there but he is soon to be a step-brother!

“Everyone?”  Martin’s voice filled with pride as he announced, “I’d like you to meet my youngest daughter, Allison.”  Daughter?

All Allie wanted was to make sure that her father was happy and the woman he was engaged to was not after his money, like her mother.  She was so not looking for anything else, but there he was, Mr. Hot Cowboy and he seemed determined to prove to her that love did exist.  Jesse also wanted her to see that there are a lot of couples that found forever in their marriages when they were with their soul mate.

He wanted to help her overcome the issues that were holding her back from believing in a happily-ever-after.

Will Jesse be able to win Allie over to the love and forever side?  Is she the one for him and can he forget the past and live in the now with Allie? Can they find their happily-ever-after together?

Would I recommend this book: Yes! Save a horse, ride a cowboy is a definite reality in this beautifully written romance. This story includes a beautiful cowboy and a feisty city girl that finds out that something is developing between them if they are willing to reach out and grab it. This is the story of two people trying their best not to fall in love when they are each other’s one and only makes this an incredible book to read.

Would I read other books by this author: Yes! Love the way Ms. Terry writes and I will definitely read more books by this author.
